Being constantly asked to give everyone a review

This is starting to get on my nerves TBH, the tin hat was from a company I bought kettle from via Amazon , saying if I give them a 5 * review the email them they would give me an Amazon voucher, but the kettle isn't that good TBH, it leaks when you pour it and is very heavy. So I definitely won't give the a 5* review but it has left me feeling what is the point of reading the reviews because they are probably false anyway.

i also get fed up with messages to review items, even royal mail is sending surveys when i get a parcel delivered, amazon are one of the most annoying, i use something called bookbub that messages me with reduced kindle books, i have no sooner bought the book and get a message to review it. when i do buy something usually from amazon, they then take the review down if it is not good enough and i have not given it enough stars, now i just ignore the emails, life is too short to get annoyed about it.

The only one I've answered recently was BT who fixed my phone problem...they only asked if it was fixed, answer 1 or 2.. so I did.
Ebay are really the most annoying, as I don't ever know which purchase they are asking about! So I don't.

I do check Amazon reviews before buying for any toys my grandchildren might want ( apart from Lego) but never leave reviews myself as apparently they are never suitable and I always get emails back from Amazon that I haven't followed the rules for posting. As far as I am concerned I leave an honest review with praise for the supplier or delivery when warranted, but as they never tell me what I have done that is "wrong" I don't bother any more, just delete the requests

I read the reviews on Amazon before I buy something and find them helpful in general, unless they are of the type 'my niece didn't like it'. I also do reviews when I buy something for them, and try to make it a full well rounded review, often with photos.

Only submit reviews for deliveries and just give star rating without any additional comments as I think they have a difficult and not very well paid job.

SueDonim - I'd be fed up with five emails wanting a review over a hair dressing appointment .
My father completely lost his temper over an NHS survey . I had to read it to him and repeat each question three times .
Now I've had two more .

I hate the demands for reviews for all and sundry! We were even asked for one immediately after being rescued assisted to return to port by the lifeboat while sailing when our tiller snapped and we were being blown onto rocks. Of course, we were immensely grateful, but we had only just tied up securely at the pontoon when one of the crew thrust a "How did we do?" tick-box form into my hand. All I wanted was a cup of tea! If not ambushed by the review form, we would have written to them with our thanks, which surely would have been more valuable and how do you rate a rescue at sea on a scale of 1 - 5?

I went to a hairdresser and beauty salon today. This evening I had five separate emails asking me to reviews them! That’ll be a no.

The last couple of times I've seen a doctor at our local surgery I've been sent a questionnaire by the NHS and asked to review them. I don't mind reviewing a courier or a supermarket but reviewing a GP is a step too far for me I'm afraid!

I hate being asked for reviews for Amazon. They request reviews for items I haven’t even unwrapped . I just delete all the emails.
I don’t mind ones about my parcel couriers as so far I’ve not had any problems. I especially like our Evri courier as he is great and he always gets top marks from me .

Esmay Mon 27-Nov-23 15:21:59

I am totally fed up with being asked to write reviews .

MrsKen33 Mon 27-Nov-23 15:10:45

Just don’t.

AreWeThereYet Mon 27-Nov-23 14:38:24

We ignore requests for reviews unless we have something specific to say - good or bad. We don't have deliveries very often of anything as we usually physically shop.

I do read reviews about something I am thinking of buying, but read them on as many sites as possible just to see if there are any recurring problems. Amazon reviews are untrustworthy because many of the reviews are listed for the wrong product, and some products have different suppliers so it may depend on who supplied it. Trustpilot have a record of not checking the validity of their reviews, and a history of paid reviews (which 'they are trying to stop'). Lots of companies pay reviewers, it's a huge business.

I have purchased beauty, wine, Lego, football along with chocolate advent calendar’s, every single company has emailed asking if I would review the products.

I emailed them back with as we do not open advent calendar’s until 1/12 it is impossible to review these products 😡😡😡

I have just bought two vouchers from Virgin for Christmas. Almost immediately an email arrived asking for my experience. What is that about. I pressed a few buttons, paid my money, 💰 that’s it really, I deleted.

SueDonim Mon 27-Nov-23 11:41:23

I mostly ignore the requests, they’re usually too long and involved.

The other thing I’m increasingly getting is suggestions to buy something I’ve already bought. I’ve just bought a new television, why would I want to buy another one?? hmm

Witzend Mon 27-Nov-23 10:40:45

I started one on Trust Pilot the other day, but didn’t finish because it wanted my name and email.

I’m happy to review products for certain companies, e.g. Seasalt and M&S.

I do agree that wanting an ‘essay’ is too much, and is off-putting.
I’ve been glad of other people’s reviews on Amazon, particularly the one for the red-eyed, roaring dinosaur I was once thinking of for little Gds - one review said it hadn’t even lasted until the turkey was out of the oven!

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 27-Nov-23 10:32:53

I’m happy to complete the Morrisons review request after each order. It gives me the opportunity to comment if there was something I wasn’t happy with and also to compliment the driver - it could help them. Only a couple of minutes of my time.

I don't understand when supermarkets ask for reviews on my grocery order. They're just ordinary products that I repeat buy.. it's weird

How was your broccoli, pascal? 🥦 😁

Out of stock - but you can't give it no stars, the lowest is one.

I will say that if I get a review email from Evri, I always fill it in.

We have had the same lHermes/Evri courier for the last 5 years. A lovely smiling friendly lady, even though such is the pressure on her to deliver lots of parcels every day, she is come - and gone in seconds.

We always give her top marks for everything in hopes it might earn her a bonus or job security.

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 27-Nov-23 09:49:50

I usually review the courier if asked because it may help the driver - ours here are always good. I don’t put reviews on TrustPilot as they show your name. I’m a complete hypocrite because I always read others’ reviews before buying.

LovesBach Mon 27-Nov-23 09:44:27

I'm happy to give a review for items that are a little more expensive, as I have relied on other customer's opinions and sometimes been put off buying by many negative comments. However, I am not so happy with being asked if I will review a box of paper clips or a pack of paper. As another reviewer has said, it's not just a quick click to say the item is ok, you are then asked: 'Thinking about your review...' and expected to offer something not less than 100 words!

Freya5 Mon 27-Nov-23 09:33:46

I mostly ignore this request. Only very rarely will I post a review. Usually about poor service, bad food, or shoddy goods.

Rosie51 Mon 27-Nov-23 09:06:15

I will give reviews sometimes if I think it could be helpful to other potential customers. The ones that get abandoned are those that ask you to rate from a scale of numbers or satisfaction expressions, then immediately give a follow up of "why did you give this score?" Obviously the answer is because that's what I thought it deserved, I am not going to write an essay on my decision.
