Being constantly asked to give everyone a review

I totally agree. When I had my car serviced at a dealership recently I was asked to fill in the survey with top marks otherwise they wouldn’t get their bonus!
How ridiculous to be guilt tripped into giving a good review. Just shows how useless they can be
I do however give my Evri delivery chap a good review as he goes the extra mile. In the village where I live most people have his phone number so we can ask him to leave a parcel somewhere if we’re out or if we have a parcel to be picked up. So useful. He deserves his good reviews.

I delete every request.

Has anyone else noticed you never get asked to write a review for any medical services you ve had ie NHS or GP? Funny, that!

I agree these ratings aren't helpful unless you're reporting that the recipient said it was great quality and works well.
The ones that equally annoy me are those rating the product with one star because "it arrived late". That tells me zero about the product, just that the delivery service didn't meet expectations.

People seem to get mixed up on Amazon between reviewing the product and reviewing the company that sold it, and their service.

Just today I was moaning to DH about having requests to review EVERYTHING I buy. Usually I just ignore such requests, the only ones I feel moved to complete are in regard to holidays, Air BNB etc as I find reviews very helpful when planning a trip. But reviewing things like a pack of paper napkins or some sticky labels - NO!

I get annoyed by that too, it's all the time! I suppose I do buy a lot online, but I don't do them all, it's a full time job if I did! they just go in the bin & I do the products I really like

In Denmark companies are not allowed to offer us incentives for filling in these reviews, but unfortunately that does not stop them sending them.

I have stopped reviewing products, having been annoyed by all the same things as all you others, plus Amzon asking for a review´three days before whatever it was I had ordered turned up!

One company actually phoned to ask why I hadn't filled in their review form. I said, that if there had been anything wrong with the goods ordered, I would have complained. As I did not, they can take it I was satisfied with the order.

It took a while before the person I was speaking to got the point, but honestly I have far better things to do with my time than answer stupid questions.

If we all just stop filling in these forms, perhaps firms will stop sending them.

I say no, when companies ask over the phone whether they may record our conversation and use it for training purposes. I find this even more annoying than the reviews.

I've tried to give reviews on Amazon France. The bad ones get taken down because of their policy guidelines! Nothing rude. Simple facts, but nooo....

So I buy from Amazon UK and collect the items from a friend when I'm next in the UK.

Today, I went into a fairly new city centre salon on the spur of the moment to have my eyebrows threaded. First I was asked my telephone number. When I asked why, the girl said it was normal for first time customers, I gave my landline number as I didn’t want to receive texts from them. I was then asked for my email address. I said that I didn’t have one. Was also asked for my postcode. Photographs were taken before and after. When finished, I was asked if I wanted my nails done, then as I went to pay, she tried to persuade me to pay upfront for a series of four appointments at a reduced rate. I guess if I’d given my email address I’d have heard from them by now. Totally intrusive, and I won’t be going back.

I will “rate” a local taxi firm because they have been consistently excellent in every way.

In my job I am supposed to ask customers to leave a review- (I don’t) - especially as anything less 5 stars or whatever doesn’t count!
If “they” volunteer and are pleased with our service, then obviously that is different.
But if customers are under the impression that this online method will allow them to express dissatisfaction or hear suggestions then they are being mislead.
Who benefits from this I’m not quite sure🤔

One of the problems with giving reviews too soon is that if the item or service doesn’t stand the test of time, you can’t withdraw it. Trustatrader and Checkatrader ask for reviews within two weeks of the service being carried out. Naturally, if a plasterer has done a good job you give them 10/10 because you are pleased at that time. If after a couple of months the plaster starts cracking or falling off the wall your review is still there saying what a great company they are. I have now learnt to avoid giving reviews until I am convinced either way.

My last Airb&b review request resulted in an honest review by me.

Then I got a harassing email through the app by the guy who owns the rental, complaining about my unsatisfactory, less than stellar review.

I read the reviews on Amazon before I buy something and find them helpful in general, unless they are of the type 'my niece didn't like it'. I also do reviews when I buy something for them, and try to make it a full well rounded review, often with photos.

I agree. I find the Amazon reviews useful overall (in spite of problems like some fake reviews) so I leave reviews myself.

I left one recently to let prospective buyers know about a product that had stopped working properly soon after I bought it. But I usually review things I find good and feel happy about.

On Amazon you can just leave a star rating without a review, which is quick.

Also, how likely is it that someone you give a present to will tell you they don’t like it?

It really depends what mood I’m in. However, I think some of it is becoming rather silly, in which case I delete.
I will comment on the delivery driver one, as I agree with other posters - they don’t get paid too well and their job might depend upon whether they get a review or not. (It shouldn’t, but I wonder if questions would be raised if no reviews were received about them).

Went for Blood test at Docs yesterday, this morning first thing was a txt "How did we do" I did reply as one, I had no waiting time and two the nurse was lovely, didn't feel a thing

We get ridiculous requests eg from the GP ! I never complete any feedback requests unless it’s been outstanding or atrocious.

I only review if I am pleased with the product. Amazon ones I only occasionally do..
However just received one for a gift I bought for my DIL which was lovely, beautifully presented and wrapped.
It is from a small independent company, it deserves a good review it was lovely. I checked its reviews before I purchased from them. Happy to add to their feedback.

It would be more useful if the company read them. I gave a bad review about a local restaurant, it could have been sorted with a simple apology but no reply

A friend works for a museum and gets embarrassed at having to push satisfaction surveys but they can’t get grants without giving out these surveys

I generally give reviews, and am always honest with what I say. Am also offered free books from NetGalley for reviewing, and found some great new authors.
I find reading reviews a real help when looking to purchase, so feel it's worthwhile doing.

I delete them when they arrive. On odd occasion if I think it’s worthy I’ll give it a review good or bad.

I refuse to answer these reviews. It's not usually difficult to delete them. Just keep refusing to reply.

I don’t believe in Trust Point stars nor any other groups.
I bought a leather sofa, first delivery was the wrong colour, second delivery the quality was not the same as in the shop. I complained several times on Trust point each time they replied that it was in hand, which it wasn’t so I complained again. The shop had Trust Point contact me, informing me that one article, one complaint even though there was no satisfaction.
There are several articles in the Guardain highlighting goods given for free if five stars are awarded.

The request for a review from every company drives me nuts too. Also what I find really annoying are the reviewers who say they can’t say what it’s like as it’s for a present and they haven’t given it yet- but they are sure it will be fine. What a waste of time !
