We have just had a really difficult time and made a tricky decision.
We had agreed to look after our 2 grandsons one almost 2 and one almost 4 whilst their parents had a much needed 3 day break away together. The other grandparents were going to help too.
On the Tuesday before we were to arrive on the Friday our youngest was admitted to hospital with a viral chest infection. His 3rd trip to hospital this year.
He returned home still poorly on the Thursday. We arrived on the Friday and said although we were happy to look after him in the day we felt it was too much of a responsibility to care for him at night in case he had to be hospitalised again. He wasn't eating and only drinking a bit and drying a lot.
My DinL who has been very stressed got very upset and she and my DS had a big row.
We felt so guilty but stuck to our guns.
Little one was pretty poorly Friday and Saturday but started to perk up Sunday and today.
I was so relieved when my DinL thanked us for everything and said she couldn't have left the little one really.
The other grandparents backed us up and said we did the right thing.
Sorry to go on about it but it has been a difficult time.
Little one is now eating and drinking and all is well. We are done in of course.
