Advice please

Hi, I wonder if someone could give me some advice please. My son left his wife and children last week. I get on really well with my daughter in law, and I've asked if I can Skype with the grandchildren tomorrow as we do every week. My beautiful granddaughter is 9 and is very upset about daddy leaving. The advice I need please is, what can I say to her if she mentions to me that daddy has left them.??
I'd really appreciate any advice please.

Honesty is the best policy - tell her you understand her feeling sad, but that her dad loves her and always will, and so do you. Tell her it is not her fault - it is between the adults. Children always think these things are their fault - she needs to know that this is not so.

Yes, tell her you don't know why, but there is something you do know and that is he loves her very much. And as Mishap said it is between the adults.

Tell her you love her too, and you still love her Daddy and her Mummy and her sister? or brother? too.

Hi lilian honestly, the things we have to deal with because we are parents .... flowers for you.

I can't really add anything to the good advice above, other than that you can reassure her that some things never change and how much you and her dad, and her mum love her is one of those things. Perhaps say she can write to you - if she does emails?
