My darling grandma

I thought I would just let you all know that my dearest, darling grandma Bridget died this morning at 01.25. I missed being with her by only a few minutes, something that I deeply regret.

At 99 I know that my grandma had a good, long life but I feel so lost to think that I won't see her again.

So sorry, gillybob We have heard so much about your grandma that we feel we all knew here too. You will miss her so. Don't feel guilty about not being there, she probably slipped into a dream when all was quiet and followed it out of this life.

Dear Gillyb so sorry to hear the sad news. How lucky you and your Grandma were to have had each other for so long and to have such a bond. As others have said, so often the end comes when you're not present; it's as though they want to just slip away without a fuss. It's happened to me and numerous friends, having visited every day, the end has come when we've just popped out of the room for a couple of minutes. It's very hard to take at the time. flowers

May she rest in peace. A long life well-lived with people who loved her. None of us can ask for more. You were with her in spirit at the last moment and I am sure she knew that. flowers

I'm so sorry gillybob. As others have said, you will carry her with you always, and so will your children and grandchildren. She will live on in others' hearts and memories for many years to come, and that is a fine legacy flowers

gillybob Sorry about those stupid question marks - they were meant to be dashes. Gransnet has mucked up lots of symbols recently.

Thinking of you and sending loving thoughts across the miles.

She was such an important figure in your life ?? demanding, recalcitrant, independent, strong and loving ?? of course, you will miss her terribly. But how wonderful to have had this extraordinary woman in your life for so long.

gillybob Everyone does their dying on their own, no matter how many people surround their deathbed. What was ?? and to you, still is ?? important is that your were there for so much of her life. You were a support, a helper, a comforter and a deeply loving granddaughter.

Deep condolences and lots of love.

So sorry Gilly It is so hard to lose a loved one and I know your grandma was very special to you. Even though you knew it was inevitable, it is always difficult when the time to say a final goodbye comes. ((Hugs))

gilly flowers {{{hug}}} you will always have your memories and you will still chat to her. Grandma knew how much you loved her and she will always be watching over you xxx

flowers I am very sad for you. It is not unknown for people to "wait" until they are alone to go , sometimes even when a loved one has just popped out of the room.
You are understandably sad that you will not see her again, but part of you is her, what you are is down to her, you carry her genes, your upbringing was shaped by her and you in turn have handed that on to your children.
That for me, is immortality.
flowers and condolences for your loss.

Sorry to hear your sad news Gilly flowers Both my mum and auntie left this world in a quiet moment when we were minutes away and we were told that this is something that people often do when they're ready to let go of life.

flowers gillybob. Don't beat yourself up about missing the moment. I have read that some patients seem to wait until they are alone before they let go. She will have known how much you cared for her.

So sorry to hear this, remember nothing can take away your precious memories flowers
