I can imagine how lovely it is for you to hear such stories, sunseeker. He is living one in other people's hearts as well as yours. A wonderful legacy, as gknot says

jbf He didn't tell me because he would not want to embarrass anyone he helped. He grew up in a home with very little money, he never forgot what it was like and he also never forgot the shame his parents felt when they had to accept charity, so if he could help someone, he would and it was totally like him to keep it to himself.

Yes, I am very proud of him, yes I did pick one of the good ones. We were together for over 40 years and I never regretted a single moment.
