Yep I have one if those. To put it bluntly he is a controlling b------d. I can't abide being in his company for a minute.
Since her retirement my friend has suffered from quite severe depression, and of course is unable emotionally to resist his complete running her life, from how much, what and when she eats, to the heating temperature, on and on it goes.

No, just mildly irritating ones who are worth putting up with for the sake of the friend.

Whitewave. Is your friend aware of how you feel? My friend knows he irritates us, but I don't think she knows how much. She only admitted on this holiday that her DD can't stand him.

Fortunately not, my closest friend's OH and I share the same sense of humour and are good friends. She says he gets on better with me than any of her other friends.

How awful, Petra. Have just spent a week with a friend and her very angry husband. He drinks too much, is rude and controlling towards her, and impatient with their very young children. I was very saddened to witness this behaviour. My other half is going to have a word with him to see if it helps. I'm not sure if that's the right thing to do, but we shall see.

Could you invite her to visit you without him, petra? Or suggest a holiday for you and her without husbands?

thatbag. Oh if only that were possible, but she has fallen into his caveman trap ie, don't leave me ( she told me that she had packed her bags this past summer) I can't live without you routine. And as some of you will understand, that is very attractive.
She came back to the UK to visit her DD this summer. He actually cried when she got back to Spain and promised that she wouldn't do it again.
I'm afraid she's a lost cause.
