As mumofmadboys says, in effect: so what if there's a thread on mumsnet trashing a gransnet thread? Free country. Free speech. Starting a thread here about it seems a bit like telling tales to me. And for what?

Why is it a problem to you bouncingdragon?

obieone Fri 13-May-16 21:18:00

I think it is great that they are reading us.
People learn from each other across the generations.

Jayh Fri 13-May-16 21:08:48

Yes, apparently. We are discussing the one.

Jalima Fri 13-May-16 20:55:49

Not much different from us really but do we discuss their threads on here?

Faye Fri 13-May-16 20:53:16

So very true that posts can be read by anyone. In fact there was a programme on Adelaide (Australia) television yesterday called the Chat Room. They were talking about a thread on Mumsnet where a woman was invited to a wedding, she gave money as a gift, I think it was a hundred pounds, and was asked by the bride to give more. The reason for asking for more was because the poster had recently inherited money.

The people on the programme at least agreed with the woman who had started the thread and thought the bride was very cheeky. grin

I looked. Not much different from us really.

Jalima Fri 13-May-16 20:39:49

I don't bother to look at MN either.

Does it feel a bit like stalking?

kittylester Fri 13-May-16 20:13:06

Anyway, is this a thread about a thread? confused

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 13-May-16 19:26:04

It's funny how they keep an eye on us. I never bother to read them. grin

Marmark1 Fri 13-May-16 19:15:22

Hmm,it will happen to a few of them for certain

kittylester Fri 13-May-16 19:12:59

Why come and tell us confused

jinglbellsfrocks Fri 13-May-16 19:08:42

Ooh 'eck! I hope my DD doesn't see the post I put on here yesterday about the fact that I am not totally enamoured about them coming to me for their dinner and tea on Sunday! shock grin

I have looked and don't find it nasty. As generally happens, people read their own experiences into it. I haven't read it all, but many are pointing out that there are 2 sides to an argument. You have to reply to the person posting about the problem, but there is bound to be another point of view- we just don't know about it.
We get threads on here about threads on Mumsnet so I can't see anything wrong with the other way around.

mumofmadboys Fri 13-May-16 18:35:45

If Mumsnet want to criticise a GN thread, let them.
There are always two sides to every story.
Every estrangement is incredibly sad but people are flawed and life is less than perfect.

Always a reminder that everything we post is open to be read by anybody which is why I wonder when some posts especially on threads concerning family members, are so explicit as to make people identifiable. It is always possible that they might consciously or otherwise want to be identified hmm

It is not all nasty. There are posters who are saying that there are usually two sides to relationship breakdowns and that they understand that it happens to nice parents as well. Feelings always run high on this sad topic.

It is about a support thread on Gransnet. I think it is little more than stalking to trash a thread and mock the posters contributing to it. The thread is on Mumsnet and you might want to report it to the Gransnet moderators.
