Does sex really keep your mind sharp?

Just read an article in the Guardian about how sex may help to keep your brain active. I find my memory is getting worse as I get older - more like a sieve everyday in fact - and I have to admit that sex is a rarity for me these days. That's not to say that I'm not satisfied (I'm in a very happy marriage), but I wonder if there's something to this. Does anyone find that sex helps them mentally - or is it more about being satisfied and happy than improving cognitive functions? Thanks in advance smile

Article is here if anyone wants to read www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2017/jul/10/does-having-sex-when-you-are-older-help-you-stay-mentally-sharp

Gretta. Dare I ask what you mean when you say DH beavers away? Or is that just my filthy, sleep deprived brain? ?

Glammananna, perhaps if you have sex whilst in Morrisons it may help you to remember what to buy for Sunday lunch! ?

Didn't Woody Allen day something like "sex is dirty...well, if it's good, it is!"

No need for any man to 'beaver away'....that's what viagra is for!

Gaggi3 Tue 11-Jul-17 20:33:28

Off the point but have always loved Woody Allen's comment, in a film, about sex "The most fun I've ever had without laughing." Apologies in advance for those who don't like WA.
Physical exercise is supposed to release endorphins which may help keep one sharp.

Looked over to DH and asked if sex helps his memory... he thought it did. I agreed...after all, for some men the brain is often in the pants. wink
