In your place I would send either flowers or a small gift and a simple message wishing her many happy returns of the day and sign it both in your son's and your own name.

Sounds like a good idea to me.

I would too! am not really sure what your worry is with this? If she isn’t getting on with her son then it would surely be a comfort for her to know that you and grandson are thinking about her??

I certainly would ??

Yes.....perfect time to send flowers. I would put your name to them as its important she knows how much you are thinking of her.
Don't mention OH or difficulties just something simple like I'm thinking of you.......

An act of kindness, however small, is never wasted!

Yes - and she will always be your son’s grandma.

I agree with everyone else, flowers always lift the spirits so send them flexiblefriend

Craftycat Thu 13-Dec-18 11:58:42

Yes- just do it. I'm sure it will do her good to know someone is thinking of her.- It would me!

FlexibleFriend Thu 13-Dec-18 11:41:39

Yes of course, I find it strange you're even questioning it.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 13-Dec-18 10:24:16

Absolutely send her a small gift.

Telly Thu 13-Dec-18 10:13:24

Yes, I would. I have just arranged for Christmas flowers for my ex DiL who is not too good. She loves them, we remain on good terms so why not?

Teetime Thu 13-Dec-18 09:51:39

Flowers are always acceptable I think but keep it simple with a nice message.

silverlining48 Thu 13-Dec-18 09:46:47

Yes I would. It will cheer her up.

Willow500 Thu 13-Dec-18 09:46:44

I agree - it's a lovely thing to receive if she's going through a bad time.

MawBroon Thu 13-Dec-18 09:41:34

The perfect time to send flowers, surely?
I am not sure why you are hesitating.

Nicola7722 Thu 13-Dec-18 09:38:20

My ex mother in law has her birthday soon and was thinking of sending her small gift or flowers (saying it was sent by her grandson) but she is currently going through a bad time with my ex ie her son.

Would you still send gift or flowers to someone who is not really in a 'happy' mode ?

Thanks
