Mine goes right back to the late 1940's . He was an actor called Larry Parks and played the part of Al Jolson in two biopic films. I had a photo of Larry pinned inside my school desk.

Without a doubt, for me it was Helen Shapiro in the early i960s. I was fifteen and just started work when she made the record "you don't know".

On my first solo holiday with my mates, I remember listening to her sing that on Radio Luxemburg while we on a tent holiday at Weymouth late one night, wonderful stuff.
