Mine was Paul McCartney in the 1960s.

Paul Jones of Manfred Mann. I had his photo on the ceiling above my bed. I argued with ny dad once (not acceptable in the 60s) and he tore it down.

I finally got to meet him in the 1990s. He was doing an open air jazz concert at Castleward. He gave me a big hug (I felt like a teenager for a moment!) and autographed my M&S fruit pie packet- the only paper we had. Better late than never!

Same here, Grannybags. Billy Fury when I was 10 too. Later, Steve McQueen - I saw The Great Escape about a dozen times.

I can remember rather liking Robert Horton, too, but my first real crush was Ed Byrnes, who played "Kookie" on 77 Sunset Strip. Living in our council house in late 50's Stevenage, the whole programme seemed to belong on another planet, and I just loved Kookie with his fair hair and ever-present comb. Later, just coming in before the Beatles (my favourite was Paul), I loved Terence Stamp. I wrote to him and he wrote back with a signed photo, too. I had his picture on the inside of my school desk, but someone stole it! I still rather like him, now he and I are a lot, lot older!

Robert Horton in Wagon Train and envied him his horse (Topaz?). Closely followed by Adam Faith.

Tony Crane of the Merseybeats. I hitchhiked to see their concerts as well as seeing them in place I lived.

Met him a couple of times and have a photo taken of me with him. Lovely man.

To avoid any misunderstanding, Phil was fully dressed in his Navy uniform.

I adored Prince Philip and had a centrefold picture of him from the Girl comic pinned up in my bedroom. I was so jealous of the Queen. He’s still got a look about him even at his advanced age, bless him....

The only two I can recall:

As a very young girl -- probably three or four, certainly no older than five -- I remember sitting on my Grandmothers floor, watching 'Roots' and commenting that LeVar Burton's "Kunta Kinte" was pretty.

Flash forward to the mid-80s, I was entering my early teens and I had a short lived fondness for Rob Lowe.

Kirk Douglas - years before most of you on here could read a film magazine.
He's still alive, 103 in Dec.

Huw Thomas, the ITN newsreader, he was gorgeous! I wrote to him when I was 14,and he replied, but I folded and unfolded the letter so many times it fell apart! I had an idea that I was going to go to London, meet him, and marry him, but it never came to pass. I managed to find an address and wrote again about 12 or 13 years ago, received another very nice reply, plus a requested photo of himself back in the day. He was in his 80s by then, but still very handsome and distinguished looking. Sadly, he has since died.

Is it only me, but this poster starts "question" threads (and quite a few of them!) but never comes back to post on the thread that they have started? confused

Doug McClure (as "Trampas", in the series "The Virginian"), followed closely by George Harrison.

Tommy Steele, goodness know why but couldn't get enough of him: films, TV, radio. Not for long though, along came Cliff. My dream boat.

Daddima Thu 24-Oct-19 17:13:13

Richard Chamberlain, then Paul McCartney, but Celtic captain Billy McNeill was my hero, especially after I had met him!

When I was very little I wanted to marry Paddington Bear.

I loved Billy Fury also such a shame he died an early death,I also liked Eden Kane who only had one or two hits before changing his name and his faith his brother also was a favourite of mine he was called Peter Starsted I dont think he had many hits but they where both very attractive

Calendargirl Thu 24-Oct-19 16:31:04

Also fancied Ilya Kuryakin in Man from UNCLE. I collected all the cards from bubble gum or something to make a HUGE picture of him and Napoleon Solo.
Still got them in the loft somewhere. Collector’s Item. ?

Calendargirl Thu 24-Oct-19 16:28:06

NotTooOld

Think Rowdy Yates (Clint Eastwood) was in Rawhide, not W.T.

Although quite young, I also fancied Robert Horton as Flint McCollough in W.T. Tall, dark, handsome.

Grannybags Thu 24-Oct-19 16:00:22

Billy Fury when I was about 10!

Greyduster Thu 24-Oct-19 15:45:59

The actors Robert Taylor and David Niven, but certainly Richard Chamberlain as Dr Kildare!

Willow500 Thu 24-Oct-19 15:27:20

Davy Jones from the Monkees.
