I feel that way after a busy family meal. The food preparation and tidy up is a lot of work, but I feel so blessed to have my family around me. Even happier knowing I have a lovely husband that generally sends me off to bed and does the final clean up himself.

I agree long standing friends are so important. They know all about your ups and downs in life and we are always there for each other. A lot of my friends I have known for 30 -40 years.

Good friends. There's nothing like it.
5 of us have been good friends since we were in our 30s and worked together until we gradually retired. One is my best friend and our dgc sometimes play together. All of us meet as a group several times a year. Others meet randomly more often.
They are a big part of my life.

I’ve just finished tidying up after having four friends come for supper. I always cook from scratch (a two curry night) and even for a kitchen supper properly lay the table and have nice tableware. It’s hard work but I do it willingly as part of the barter of life, giving a little to feel the pleasure of it being returned. As I’ve got older I’ve come to understand trusting friendship is so very important. I am a lucky lady.
