The Queen and Prince Philip were married for 73 years.

I wonder how many marriages last that long.

Have any of you had a long marriage?

I married at 18 and we had a good run for 45 years when he sadly passed away. It's been great hearing about so many other long marriages!

55 years for us in July. He deserves a medal as big as a frying pan!

My Granny's advice for a long marriage "you have to swallow gimlets!"

47 years for us this August. Not all perfect by any means. In the early years my parents didn't like him. We were broke and constant carping from my parents added unnecessarily to the stress of no money and a small baby. We somehow weathered it all and are very happy now. Looking back to those early years made me determined not to put my own daughter through what my parents put us through. Like a previous poster, I think we were too stubborn to give in, plus no money for separate houses and neither of us were prepared to return to the family home grin. We are very lucky to have had many good years since those far off days.

Happy Anniversary LullyDully.

This coming October it will be 50 years for us. My choice didn’t go down well with my family, but we’ve proved them all
wrong. ??‍❤️‍?

Last year was our 60th, so it'll be 61 years in May.
We've become more tolerant over the years and learned each others little idiosyncrasies and accept them. The thing is not to try to change each other.

We have been married 45 years. Today is our anniversary. If we make 73 years we will be just over 100, so just possible.

DH died two weeks before our 53rd wedding anniversary.

My H and I met at school when he was 16 and I 15.
We first went out later that year. We were together from then and married at 22 and 21.
We were married for over 60 years when he died two years ago this month when he was 83.
I cherish those years but did not mourn as he had had Alzheimer’s for ten years and life was difficult during that time.
I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

Met Mr. S. when I was 16. Married him when I was 19 and we celebrate 41 years this year.

I married my first love, my only love and can't help thinking the Queen did too.

We’ve been married 46 years. I hope to remain married for a good few more years yet.

We have been married for 53 years and while like most couples who have been married that long we have had our ups and downs, I have never wanted to swap him for anyone else.

My in laws celebrated their 70th anniversary on 29th March. They are two halves of a whole in everything they do down to making a cup of tea!

Minimo2 Sat 10-Apr-21 19:10:33

42 years in July but I was very young (by today’s standard).

mamaa Sat 10-Apr-21 18:40:31

40 years married the end of this month. Other half worked away from home a lot so we were never 'velcro'd' to one another which I think helped. Lockdown 1 was probably the first time we'd spent all day everyday together for 3 months and it went surprisingly well!

Ashcombe Sat 10-Apr-21 18:37:23

First marriage: good for many of the 43 years we achieved before divorcing.

Current marriage (to olddudders of this parish!) is working well after five and a half years, during which we have been in different countries for some of the time as his main home is in France, whilst mine is here in England.
