The Queen and Prince Philip were married for 73 years.

I wonder how many marriages last that long.

Have any of you had a long marriage?

Met when we were 16 and 17, but were both with other people. We stayed good friends, he was the best friend ever, and after both our relationships ended, we got together.
That was forty six years ago, we have been married for forty four.
We work together every day, and now also with our three children.
Certainly hasn’t been wall to wall romance, we’ve had our ups and downs, but I would do it all again, with a few adjustments maybe!

Married 36 years and have had tough times and great times in equal measure . .Now both about to retire and hopefully looking forward to many happy and healthy years together .

Been together 48 yrs and married 46 I was a child bride ?
We’ve weathered many storms and if I’m honest I regret getting married so young although would still have wanted to marry the same man. He’s put up with a lot from me not least moving to a different country I’m very lucky he’s stuck with me.
Hoping for many more anniversaries.

Together 52 years married for 50 of them

The number of couples who survive into their late 90s, like the Queen and Prince Philip are very few indeed, and many of that small group are probably not computer users.

Even though longevity is rising. People are marrying much later, so the chances of being married for 73 years is diminishing fast. My DS and DDiL would have to both live until they were 104 and 106 respectively to reach their 73rd wedding anniversary

52 years together in June, 51 years married next December. I wish I could go back and do it all again.

So far as far as I can see we don't have any GNetters who have been married longer that the Queen.

A bit disappointing

We (OH and me ) have been together for 61 years and married for 55 years, so early days yet,

I do hope that we last as long as the Royal couple.

Together 45 years and married for nearly 43.

Like Terry Wogan used to say about his wife and their long marriage - I don't like to throw anything away!

45 years married in 2 weeks time and together for 48 years. Can’t believe where the years have gone.

Greyduster Sun 11-Apr-21 14:58:46

spice congratulations on your upcoming 50th! The six months running up to ours I was a nervous wreck, worrying about whether we would actually make it! How stupid can you get??

Spice101 Sun 11-Apr-21 09:52:03

Thanks M0nica for your congratulations.
B9exchange, I live in Australia so our weather is on the decline but still should be ok for next week. At least we don’t have restrictions on who or where we can meet as we have very few covid cases.

Lovetopaint037 Sun 11-Apr-21 08:58:17

We have been married almost 61 years. Met when I was 16 and dh was 17.

B9exchange Sun 11-Apr-21 08:45:24

Spice I hope the weather holds for you and you can have a wonderful celebration with some friends in the garden, perhaps after the Duke's funeral service.

We have been married 48 years, hopefully by our 50th things will be back to normal!

M0nica Sun 11-Apr-21 08:39:29

Spice101 Congratulations

50 years married next Saturday.

Gagagran Sun 11-Apr-21 08:12:00

56 year in July for us. I was 21 and DH was 22. Didn't feel young at the time but looking back we were, especially compared to the average age of marriages these days. We had such a lot to learn!

My parents were married for 70 years but for 6 months so we have some way to go to match them.

Scentia Sun 11-Apr-21 07:47:32

Been together for 32 years and for 20 of those years we have worked together day in day out just us two. Works well for us, he is the best boss ever❤️

maydonoz Sun 11-Apr-21 07:44:57

I forgot to say "happy 45th anniversary" to Lullydully, hope you have a lovely day

maydonoz Sun 11-Apr-21 07:41:14

We've been married coming up forty four years in July and together another three before.
It has passed very quickly but yet it seems like a lifetime, which it is!
Like most people it has been busy with work and family life, bringing up our three sons, and now helping with the grandchildren, the third on the way!
