Mentoring a child

Some years ago I read of a child mentoring scheme and thought that one day I’d like to do it. However it no longer seems to exist. I have only 1 GC who is now a teenager and I feel proud that I have been a good influence on him. I prefer one-to-one and think I could be of benefit to someone who is perhaps struggling in some aspect of their life. Does anyone know of such a scheme?

Try the Princes Trust.

Look at the independent visitor scheme for “ looked after “ young people.
Every UK local authority has one.
The training is excellent, I volunteered for 7 years.

Thank you Sago. I’ve filled in the online form this evening - hopefully correctly. I’d never heard of this so do appreciate your help.

Skydancer Great, not everyone makes it through the training and even after being matched with a young person a lot drop out.
It’s a big commitment but very worthwhile.
