Thanks everyone. Should actually say that I did email him with a lot of damning evidence last christmas (he's talked in a national paper about basing a character on a female colleague where he worked at CERN in Geneva). Never replied back to me. I think he was married before; he talks in the press about having a girlfriend. Personally I think that he's bisexual by some of the research I've done on him. I try not to see what he does on You Tube - he's plugging his new book looking very smug but because it went on for so long and I was his plaything I still think about his behaviour. I feel bitter about it as he has all these followers on You Tube. I don't know much about digital games - but some like to do 'role play' and it is sad and creepy.

I don't think you need to look for reasons to dislike him or to prove him bad to us. What he has done is bad enough on its own

Most authors base characters on someone. Can only imagine that he found some aspects of your life interesting. I would let it go and maybe not keep a watchful eye on his career?

Seek legal advice; have absolutely no idea what your rights would be in a case like this.
Depending on what advice you are given, follow it, and either pursue him to stop it or if there is nothing you can do, cut him and YouTube out of your life.

What a horrible experience gloriag. He sounds absolutely awful. I don’t think you’ll get an apology at this stage. Try to put him out of your mind and move on. I’m not aware of much else you can do really. Would the police be interested? Possibly. He must have committed a crime.

I would suggest that ^ nobody was interested^ because you can’t prove that he was parodying you.
Plus, as far as the internet is concerned where your talking about the law, it’s a bit like the days of the Wild West.

A nasty experience but I suggest you try to let it go and move on. Involving the police or seeing a solicitor (a specialist solicitor not Joe from the firm in the high street who will know nothing about this sort of thing) would just mean dragging the whole thing up again, possibly to no avail other than the lightening of your bank balance if you try to take legal action. We all know that legal action, even if possible in this case, is risky, expensive and takes ages. And I say that as a former lawyer.

Through experience I found that some people , to prove a point, have no moral compass and are blissfully ignorant of the damage they can cause .
It just think it's a bit creepy. He's not going to reply to you so unless you want to seek legal advice and it isn't otherwise affecting your life, such as he's committing fraud, move on .

gloriag you need to let this go now. Because you say you've emailed him about it and no reply then go on to suggest he is bisexual by some of the ....'research you've done on him'....... time to let it go and live your life.

Let it go. No point of re stoking the fire, it would serve no purpose. He shouldn’t have done what he did, it upset you, that’s says everything about him.

Yes...not sure I understand exactly what’s gone on here, but sounds like you’re well rid. At least you won’t have to ever ‘ see ‘ or hear from him ever again. Unlike him....who is stuck with himself forever!

The only thing 'odd' is a man putting a woman down for scientific research. Still smug!! I pity his ex-wife but she had a lucky escape.

If he is well known - sell your story to the newspapers!

It sounds very unpleasant and creepy but unless you have proof you may not get anywhere. Perhaps seek advice from CAB or a solicitor that gives free 30 minute slots.
