Overseas visit

Sounds like a good idea, it will give you all some breathing space during their visit and you won't have all the extra housework to do!
Certainly don't take it as a personal insult.

Let them stay in the hotel, if that’s what they want to do, if they think a 4 bedroom house is too warm and small. 🤷‍♀️ Look on the bright side, less work for you.

You will still be able to spend time with them.

If you see them 3 times a year, that’s not bad.

Let them do what they want to do. Think of the reduction in hassle

We always stay in hotels now when visiting family. It's not meant to insult anyone but we can have our own space and do our own thing

I’d be so relieved they wanted to stay in a hotel. You can enjoy time with them without the hassle of looking after them.

Would they reconsider if you bought a portable AC for their bedroom?

A couple of years ago various family came over from Australia for my 70th. Some stayed with me, others found an AirBnB in my village. I wasn’t offended at all.

How about having the grandsons for a couple of nights to stay with you and giving the parents a chance of - well what parents do when they can get a bit of alone time😬

Don't be sad. If they are happy in a hotel so be it! Enjoy having less work to do and enjoy their visit.

Go with the flow lots less hassle for you and you will still see them lots I suspect. Lots of our friends who visit now prefer to stay local in a hotel and spend time with us. It works well as we all have our own space. We are happy to do the same when we visit them. We have only the one bathroom and as you get older your own bathroom is good.

My son and family visit every 2yrs or so but do stay in a hotel maybe one night at mine. Its better for them and much less anxiety for me as I worry over meals etc. Enjoy your family time.

I have the grandchildren to stay in my house and put the parents up in a hotel with a swimming pool and send the children to see their parents every day. I suggest they all pop back here for the evening meal and occasionally invite myself for a meal there. Win win situation.

However, their current home could be very different and therefore, it is small in their minds.

As for the ac, it is hard to sleep if it is hot.

Please do not try to change their minds - it may make the visit weird
