How did your friendship group come together?

we used to have friends and we'd go out at the weekends ,sadly most of them have passed away, we're quite content now just the 2 of us ,and sometimes go out for a meal with our family.
truth be told we're quite happy as we are

We too have found that our social circle has considerably shrunk. People have died and three couples chose to retire out of London. I find Saturday nights very difficult.

Quite a few friends from school (9 of us gathered this year as we turn 80) but I've also been lucky with neighbours. We came to this part of the city in 1979, moved a few streets in 2005, more nice neighbours, and in a way we doubled the friendship group. Now a reasonably independent widow, I value them greatly.

I started 2 friendship groups. A book club 19 years ago, still going strong. And on retirement 11 years ago a Ladies Who Wine group in Málaga. Who meet every Tuesday afternoon. Us ‘holidaymakers’ join in as and when we’re out there! 🍷

I have three main friendship groups: one from my first teaching job, another from my secondary school and a third from the local church I used to attend.

One group of friends were toddler group mums, we meet twice a year nearly 50 years on, for food and catch up.
Another group of 4 met in a choir. One of them has moved over an hour away but we still get together a few times a year for lunch and a bit of a sing.

I have one friendship group we all met at our then workplace 40 years ago all but one are retired now. We meet up for birthdays and Christmas.
The other four friends I have were made from school, a workplace, a neighbour, and a mum and baby club with my first child. I also meet up with two ex neighbours now and again.

I've one friend from secondary school but met most of my closest friends through the 'Housewives Register'! in the early 80s, subsequently setting up and running a very informal drop in crèche in town and meeting others through that...all still my friends even though I have left the area and moved back twice...and made new friends through various jobs since then. What puzzles me is I love them all but sometimes find they don't all get on at all in a gathering!

One group is from volunteering a few years.

I have a group of friends from more recent volunteering.

And one group is from our village who i just know.

When did we have ‘friendship groups?

I just have ‘friends’.

I have one that is a group of people who I met at Mums and toddlers group.

My other group of friends were all members of a local gym and we did various classes together and stuck together.

Others are ones I’ve met due to conversations etc even one from an online forum from several years ago.

I have several different friendship groups.
One is people I met in my teenage years.
One is people I met when expecting my children or during their schooldays.
Another are those I have met at mutual interest groups, mainly art and craft.
There are also a couple of we have met on holiday and a few that have just happened from an unexpected short conversation or meeting.
No particular friends from my working life.

I Have 3 special groups of friends that I adore.
One group from my early 20's we all worked on the NHS... All Health Care Scientist only 1 of us was a Nurse. We still are all good chums.
My dear peers from Work, we share a similar background we all achieved well in our careers, we all became Clinical Managers. Only one of us still employed by the NHS now. Four of us took the decision to leave ( this year) so others could walk in our shoes.
My 3rd group we all meet as young mums we still meet regularly, go on "girls" weekends abroad every year.
All these special people have a big space in my heart.
I don't see anyone from School.
