You can join "Plenty of Fish" as a free member to dip your toe in polly123 to see what internet dating is like? Singles wanting to meet someone to date is the human condition, at any age. I guess though the pool may be a bit smaller the older we get and we may be more stuck in our ways- but on the other hand we have more life experience and hopefully are a bit more realistic and tolerant. Good luck, stay safe and enjoy your journey 🤞💐

I have a close woman friend who met a man on a dating site during Covid lockdown. (At that time they were both 70.) They chatted a lot online because they couldn't meet at first! Eventually they met "in person" - and they've been in a happy relationship ever since. Each has their own home: there are no plans to marry or to live together,. They meet up often, to stay at each others homes, and they have holidays together. I've been with them together: it's great how they get on so well. Both are now 75 - and so happy!

Thank you for your responses, I think you have to kiss a few frogs before you find 'the one' if you ever do.

I have no personal experience but I know someone who has met a couple of nice men on the site called Our Time.

Correction - well done those who took the plunge.
My phone has a mind if it’s own.

Glad to hear that older people are finding love or maybe just companionship with benefits on dating sites.
I hated dating first time round so if alone would probs prefer that, but we’ll sone tjise who took the plunge.

I met Mr BA ♥️ almost 13 thirteen years ago on the Telegraph Dating site (no idea if it's still in existence). We both knew on that first meeting that we'd met "the one" - our first date was at Costa on the motorway services!!

I’m so out of touch I thought when I read the thread title is was going to be about sticky toffee pudding recipes 😆

I tried a few apps this year. Honestly, success depends more on patience than the platform. Some people meet fast, others after months.

There are plenty of GN members who have used dating sites. My experience ultimately was extremely positive, in fact we are celebrating our wedding anniversary today. Age most certainly isn't a barrier.

Thank you for your replies. I can confirm that there are several 70 plus ladies and men on the sites. Age doesn't seem to be a barrier.

Aldom agree..OP should ask on Mumsnet ..but maybe the OP has and didn't quite like the comments...

Maybe you should be asking this question on Mumsnet. They are younger generally than Gransnet.
Many of us are in our 70's or 80's with no experience of Dating sites.

I found one sixteen years ago. We were together half that time. I wouldn't do it again for anything, but maybe I'm older and not that much wiser?

Does anyone have any current experiences of using Dating Sites. I have just joined on thinking that I was on one site but it turns out that you can been seen on others too.
I am well aware and very careful about who I meet and where (daytime). I would love to know if anyone has been successful in finding a partner and which sites are recommended.
