I used to get bothered by my wrinkles until 5 year old grandaughter gave me a hug, stroked my face and said 'Love you Nan, your face is all squidgy and so soft.' smile

Spiders running across the floor, at one time I would curled up in a chair and made someone else search for it and get rid. Now I dare do it myself as long as I do not have to touch it.

Now retired, the stress of getting ready for work, has gone, my job was in the public eye, so one had to, look very smart, now when you go out for a meal/theatre ect, it is lovely to spend time (not rushing), to get your best face on, i still love after my skin, and use good moisturizer, as my skin is dry, but my Great- Gran son Jacob., says Nanny, lines on her face, are made by laughing,

Few things bother me no. I often go out without make up. I find I am much less bothered about other people's approval. I enjoy just being myself

i no longer care what people think of me and i have realised that i do not have to socialize with my neighbors who i don't choose to live near they just happen to be there, why do we need to be friends?

eating an extra cream cake does not bother me anymore and saying no to something i don't actually want to do is easier as i have aged.

i am also not bothered about shaving my legs etc all winter as noone can actually see them! and my partner couldnt care less lol

Saying no

cathryn1 Sun 08-Feb-15 09:25:06

what people think ... its their opinion as long as my family are happy thats all that matter

Gilla01 Sun 08-Feb-15 09:21:59

'Things' have never really bothered me, but I have more confidence now and will stand up for myself more. I will complain in shops where when I was younger I would simmer inside and not say anything.

I will talk to people I don't know and not worry about it, whereas I was painfully shy when I was younger.

I don't care about getting Grey hair anymore and I am letting it grow through with pride.

It doesn't matter what other people think- at the end of the day it is me that has to live with and be happy with myself as well as my actions. Respect, morality and compassion are what's most important to me. As I've got older this has been easier to understsnd and accept about myself.

I have started saying what I really think. Getting older gives you the right to voice your opinion saying what you really want to say. It does upset some people but I love it. So much better than having to think up something just to be nice. And I find after some thought people realise you are doing it for their own good.

I no longer bother about the odd grey hair, all my hair is grey, and what's more I really like it. I think it suits me fine.
I don't worry about what acquaintances think about my make up (or lack of it) or my dress sense.
I had not worn trousers since my late teens, but now I love them, and hardly ever wear a skirt in winter. Does my bum look big? who cares, I certainly don't!

i am not bothered so much about what other people think about me. the only people i care about are my friends and family.

It seems silly now I look back on it but it no longer bothers me that I wear glasses. I actually sat through films I couldn't see at the cinema rather than let a date know I was as blind as a bat, wouldn't answer my front door if I didn't have contact lenses in and used to jump out of bed at dawn to pop my lenses in before going back to bed to hide the fact I was shortsighted from boyfriends.

Now I'm firmly of the belief it's what's behind the specs that counts.

valbuk Sat 07-Feb-15 17:53:55

I dont worry about anyone elses opinions. I am happy with the way I look even though my hair is grey and I can see wrinkles. I appreciate good health over everything and I am just glad to be me and realise how lucky i am to have the family and friends that I have around me.

LesleyE1231 Sat 07-Feb-15 16:17:07

I give up cleaning my car. I got married....

MaryDunlop Sat 07-Feb-15 12:28:23

No longer worry about the colour of my hair, as it's getter grey, and all my friends are also grey!

Now that I'm older it's not as important what anyone thinks of me or my decisions.

I can dance to Queen's 'I Want To Be Free', while singing loudly - out of tune - or attempt (and fail) to beat The Chaser.

All part of the rich tapestry of life.

faybelle Fri 06-Feb-15 18:27:18

having then latest fashion and wearing heels on a night out

staceyshoes Fri 06-Feb-15 16:46:19

I'm not as self conscious anymore, I used to be quite shy & worry about what people thought about me, now I think there's more to life than worrying about what people think about you. I'm more worried that my family & friends & people who mean a lot to me are happy & healthy!

strawberrinan Fri 06-Feb-15 15:37:47

Gossip. I wasted far too much time when I was younger caring about what people thought about everything. It really should only have mattered what I thought.
