Take Five, have launched their new ‘Too Smart To Be Scammed?’ test, as part of Take Five to Stop Fraud week and they would love you to take the test and share your result and your thoughts.

Here’s what Take Five have to say: “Take Five to Stop Fraud is a national campaign that offers advice to help everyone protect themselves from preventable financial fraud. It educates individuals to help them spot scams and urges people to stop and consider whether the situation is genuine – to Take Five and think if what you’re being told really makes sense. Remember, ‘My money? My info? I don’t think so.”

It is becoming increasingly difficult to spot a scam as criminals are more sophisticated than ever; however there are still steps you can take to protect yourself and learn how to spot a scam before you have given away any personal details. Take the test, find out if you’re too smart to be scammed and let us know what you think. How did you score? Did you learn a new way to protect yourself from scams and frauds? What did you find the hardest about spotting a scam? Were there any bits you were surprised you got wrong or right?

Everyone who takes the quiz and posts on this thread will be entered into a prize draw where one GNer will win a £300 voucher of their choice (from a list).

Thanks and good luck!

The one I got wrong was supposedly genuine. I'd rather be suspicious of everything than not.

jane1956 Sat 03-Feb-18 13:12:27

yes! 8/8 but no room for complacency

andysmiv Sat 03-Feb-18 13:08:40

I got 7/8. Great quiz, it pays to be sceptical!

happysouls Sat 03-Feb-18 12:56:03

I got 7 out of 8. Not good enough though eh?! It only takes 1 wrong decision!

Misslayed Sat 03-Feb-18 12:19:03

8 out of 8, I am quite paranoid when it comes to these sort of things so have learnt to spot a scam a mile away. But it shows just how many there are!

Katykate72 Sat 03-Feb-18 11:54:14

I got 7/8. Shows how sneaky these fraudsters are getting as it makes me a little too cautious now but that's possibly not a bad thing!

saurus Sat 03-Feb-18 11:40:37

I got 8 out of 8 I am naturally suspicious of texts and emails - if in doubt would ring my bank on the number provided on my statements or their website never a number in a text or email.

anngwill Sat 03-Feb-18 11:38:34

I scored 6/8 perhaps cause I'm over cautious.

barrypage Sat 03-Feb-18 11:19:59

walk1992 Sat 03-Feb-18 10:57:34

misty64 Sat 03-Feb-18 10:49:30

scarlets200 Sat 03-Feb-18 10:44:39

I got 7 out of 8

rennie1811 Sat 03-Feb-18 10:23:16

I got 7 out of 8, some were quite tricky. You can understand how people in the spur of the moment would just call / press

Angelwings Sat 03-Feb-18 10:17:39

I took the test yesterday and scored 6 out of 8, so I took the test again today to see if I had learnt anything and today I scored 8 out of 8 so I’m very pleased with that. I think it’s a great tool/ test to help anyone of any age.

muppet150 Sat 03-Feb-18 10:00:30

I got 5/8. Thought i was a bit more clued up but i always google numbers/emails etc to check first. I never click on the link either. I put that into google too.

007hel Sat 03-Feb-18 09:58:57

I scored 4 ... I’m surprised at that ... however I was over cautious and didn’t click green unless I was absolutely certain it was safe ... maybe a good way to be

bobble5366 Sat 03-Feb-18 09:46:40

I got 8 out of 8, I took a gamble of the genuine ones to be honest, bu all of the fraudulent ones I was correct on, which I was quite pleased with myself. Good quiz for all of us to take to remind us of on-line fraud.

Scoobygirly Sat 03-Feb-18 09:40:25

8 out of 8, most of them are common sense i think

moonray Sat 03-Feb-18 09:39:51

I got 5 out of 8.. not a great result, I expected better :/

toria100 Sat 03-Feb-18 09:39:26

I scored 5 out of 8.
Largely because I don't do telephone or internet banking and my bank does not know my mobile phone number. So of course I would not respond to a text message.
My local bank RBS is closing 3 banks within a radius of 16 miles from where I live so to go to a bank I would have to drive 26 miles. Will I go Online. No fear far too stressful. RBS obviously doesn't want my custom.
Will change banks to one that remains open in my local town. If they all do this I will just put my money under the bed!

claire1551 Sat 03-Feb-18 09:30:56

7/8 for me too!
