The worst part of having dry itchy skin is during the night because I scratch myself in my sleep and have woken up with long scratch marks on my body. I have found that a diet rich in healthy oils has helped tremendously. Also taking Oil of Evening Primrose tablets and Omega 3 Fish Oil too.

Plain soap in shower, washing-up gloves, olive oil on skin, old Nivea cream on hands during day. That's all cheap, but I've got a relatively expensive face regime of products that work – once I find them, I stick to them and just pray they don't get discontinued…

I have seborrheic dermatitis which causes dry and itchy skin, i find too much sugar makes it worse, e45 helps keep it hydrated

I suffer from bad eczema however I found changing my diet to a cleaner more healthy one cleared up my skin massively.

I have eczema pone skin, I have to be careful what I put on my skin, and what it gets exposed to.

Moisturiser on hands and feet followed by gloves and socks at bedtime is good for deep hydration of dry skin.

I got patches of dry skin on my scalp not long after I had my first child. A really inconsiderate woman seemed to take much glee from pointing out my problem in front of a room full of people. This was annoying but the problem was cleared up with a topical cream after several months.

I get really dry hands from washing them all the time, I use moisturising gloves to combat it.

Dry, itchy skin is a big thing in our house - eczema and psoriasis sufferers live here! We don't use laundry detergents or fabric softener (we use washable instead - and save a fortune!) My hubbie is dairy free as he found it aggravated his eczema so it was just easier to cut it out. We also have to be careful with lotions and potions - natural, organic products are our favoured choice, with as few ingredients as possible.

I have suffered from dry and itchy skin for many years. To control it, the obvious thing that I do is to keep the skin moisturised at all times. There is no one product which provides the complete solution, but a combination of products and a careful diet can help keep the condition under control. Dove Nourishing for the body and Astral for the hands / face does the job on normal days. A product like E45 is ideal if you're looking to avoid products with perfume and excessive chemicals / alcohol in them.
Another trick is to apply the moisturising lotion straight after a shower while the skin is slightly wet - that way I'm able to trap additional moisture into the skin.

I go through stages of having dry skin on my feet but thankfully it tends to clear itself up

theresacoo Mon 19-Aug-19 10:56:28

mine or worse in winter. someone old me to get a old pair of tights and cut the foot off. add porridge oats and tie the top and then put it under the bath tap when running the bath.

It does help my skin.

I have psoriosis & have found that a healthy diet really improves my skin

My husband suffers from this and usually has to resort to thick hand cream and cotton gloves being worn in bed. Often the perfumes in hand creams seem to make his problem worse. We’re still looking for the miracle cream. I am sure that his hands are often painful as he develops deep cracks but it doesn’t stop him from doing anything.

Dee1012 Mon 19-Aug-19 10:39:00

I've found that QV wash cream is really good and using that has helped my skin a lot. I also use O'Keeffe's hand cream... it's my fingers that crack/split a lot and again the cream has helped.
I've spent a fortune over the years including prescription costs and nothing has really worked 100%.

katrinagran Mon 19-Aug-19 10:01:18

After my third child my hormones went crazy, horrid dry skin all over my face including my eyelids! I found that hydration was really important and a gentle soap free exfoliatorm but i haven't found the miracle cure yet!

My skin is, and always has been really dry.
When my first grandson was born he was diagnosed with a skin condition called x-linked ichthyosis. It is caused by a faulty gene passed from mother to son. Unfortunately two of the three boys is affected. It doesn't cause such severe symptoms in the carrier, but the women have dry skin.
I often break out in small patches of eczema for which I use a topical steroid cream.
I have searched for years for an effective emollient, and would love to get some lasting relief.

i have from time to time an itchy dry scalp so i just change my shampoo and conditioner and within a few washes my skin is completely clear again

I've suffered with dry skin for years, particularly on my legs and arms. I try to moisturise daily using an organic body butter, which I find really helps. I also try to add omega 3 to my diet, with foods such as salmon, eggs, avocado and walnuts. I use a high SPF suncream during the summer months and have a small humidifier in my bedroom that helps me throughout winter smile

+I have had dry skin for 50+ years but never as bad as now. Creams irritate it and make it itch more even though it is less dry. I have it on my face particulary on my eyes and eyebrows and each morning it is like dandruff. I also have it above my top lip. It stops me wearing make up and looks so awful. Shops selling products simply advise you to use their "dry skin" formulas which don't work. Some people even recoil in disgust. I absoluetly hate it.

LOU1ASH1 Sun 18-Aug-19 19:23:34

E45 really helps with my dry skin.

Sparklepants3 Sun 18-Aug-19 18:15:17

I unfortunately suffer with psoriasis but luckily it hides under my hair. But the flaking is extra annoying. I normally use coconut or argan conditioner when it gets bad and leave it in overnight which helps if only for a day or two.
I have some dry skin on my face but that's manageable with the many lotions and potions I have.

Cailin7 Sun 18-Aug-19 17:40:02

I try to be careful what soaps I use, I find Neutrogena Norwegian hand cream good

katieskatie82 Sun 18-Aug-19 17:22:36

i suffer with dry skin but it seems to be a seasonal thing with me. I always get dry skin during the winter months. A good moisturizer helps though
