I would go back to the Maldives where we spent our honeymoon. The cost would be an issue now, plus I'm more scared of long distance travelling since I had children.

I'd love to visit Peru to see the Inca pyramids. I'd go in the drop of a hat but can never find the spare funds necessary.

What I would love to do is drive through France, stopping where I please, driving along the beautiful scenery of the country. No Motorways, no advance bookings, just the beautiful scenery of the lovely villages, stopping to eat at little family owned restaurants, driving through vineyards, tasting and buying wine... staying where we pleased for as long as we liked.

Another dream destination is Alaska. I'd love to drive across it, stopping where I pleased, catching salmon to make a meal, driving through the beautiful scenery.

What stops us from these dream holidays is, we no longer enjoy flying, especially long haul, as I'm unable to sit in a seat for long hours. Also, my husband is growing old, and though he has no real ailments, gets anxiety attacks which mean we often have to cancel a trip at the last moment. Very few insurance companies would pay up for that, so we have had to curtail our adventures.

I’d love to see the Northern Lights. What stopping me? Time, cost, the fact I’d love to take my children too.

My dream destination is Either Las Vegas or to see the Northern Lights.

My travel bucket list circles the globe.
Top of my list would be a dip in the Dead Sea and a visit to Petra, Jordan.
Finances and the fact that nobody wants to go with me are holding me back.
Once my youngest is off to uni, there’ll (hopefully) be nothing stopping me.

My dream destination is the USA as I would love to drive Route 66.

Somewhere warm.
Somewhere I could learn to ride a horse again ( I did as a child)
I guess nothing much is stopping me apart from planning, cash and not yet retired.

Definitely Japan. My husband went on a business trip and said it is the only place in the world he has visited with a completely different culture. The flying aspect in relation to climate change affects trips now but it is still high on my list. He loved the food, the good manners that prevailed everywhere, traditions and the people.

I would love to go on a motorcycle tour of the Himalayas. A friend did it several years ago and said it was an exhilarating and life-changing experience. Obviously with a trip like that, good travel insurance is essential!

I've never been to Africa - I love the Alexander McCall Smith books, so I'd go to Botswana and go on a safari to see magnificent wild animals (while there still are any!)

I should love to go to New Zealand by camper but we are held back by the fact that although we enjoy this type of holiday, this is not possible at the moment due to my husband's illness. Age can also play part as some camper van companies will not hire out to people over 70 which we both are.

What are the barriers that are stopping you from going (eg health, finances, mobility, fear of flying)?

A bit of everything really, finances, I can afford, but I am a bit of a scrimper and saver and don't like to spend a big chunk of my capital, mobility is ok, and I am a good flyer - though long distance I might have to take some travel tablets.

Is travel insurance important to you when booking a trip?

Yes, just in case I need to cancel for health reasons, if I get ill or have issues with crime or lost luggage.

Does travel insurance give you the piece of mind that you’ll be protected when abroad, or do you have some reservations about what will be covered.

I would have to select the right cover for me, I have high blood pressure, and have had a heart attack so I will have to see what the cover I can get to cover these conditions.

Botswana is top of my bucket list at the moment, but that could change with the next travel progamme I watch or travel supplement I read .

As for travel insurance, it's an absolute must.
My Dad was taken very ill on a family holiday a couple of years ago, resulting in a 3+ week hospital stay and being medevaced back to the UK from Turkey.
Luckily he had comprehensive travel insurance, updated with absolutely all the medication he was taking/ previous health problems etc. The travel insurance company dragged their heels resulting in an incredibly worrying few days for my Mum and I, but did cover the hospital and Air Ambulance costs.

I would love to go to Venice and see the carnival-all the works that goes into the masks and costumes is wonderful.
And a long weekend in Iceland to see the Northern lights.

Would love to go to Canada to visit my dear friend.Would also like to see Australia and New Zealand.It is the cost that stops me.

I'd love to tour South America and see Machu Pichu, Sacsyhuaman etc (the list is endless!!). In fact I'd love to go to any ancient archaelogical site anywhere in the world. The two biggest deterrents are safety and money. Unless I win the Lotto or similar I can't see this happening so I haven't even bothered weighing up the risks and how these could be mitigated. A yearly break somewhere warm and sunny keeps me happy. And I can dream!!

Dominican Republic

I'd love to go back to New Zealand. It has every kind of landscape except desert! Beautiful place and such lovely friendly people. What stops me? - family responsibilities.

A dream holiday for me, isn’t about a destination. Home or way would be fine. But I’d like all my family to be there. Husband, 3 children, their partners and grandchild.
But this will never happen unfortunately. My younger son will never go on holiday, he thinks they’re boring, and my older son has disowned his family, me especially.

I know this is an old cliche but I would love to go on a safari in Africa. I would take my mom and son with me. I would love to see the animals in their own environment, not locked up in zoos. My.mom loves elephants whereas I love all the wild cats, especially tigers. My son loves all animals without a favourite. The reason we cannot go is because my mom is terminal with end stage kidney failure but it is a wonderful dream.

Being a Tolkien fan, I’d love to experience New Zealand where Lord Of The Rings was filmed.
Also a recent episode of Ben Fogles New Lives In The Wild, has further teased me into wanting to travel to New Zealand.
I hope it would turn out to be a precursor to actually living out there, and a reccy there would hopefully help me decide.
I would really appreciate a travel insurer to be “different from the rest”, and not be afraid to advertise on their website in a way that was clear even to the dimmest of us.
To make it easier to calculate the whole cost of the venture once the correct cover of insurance was calculated.
I have not as yet looked at the Staysure site, as holidays have been put on hold until I have saved enough to follow my dreams.

I would love to return to Las Vegas, but my husband isnt well enought to make the long flight. My DS, DiL and DGS (9) live there, so its a long wait for them to come and visit.

I would love to visit my friends in America but my real dream would be to travel through Europe by train and end up in Croatia. It is, and always will remain, just a dream as finances would never allow it.
