I had hysterectomy when I was 42 and at the age of 44 I was put on progynova 2mg which did make a difference until a few years back , Roughly for about 6 days a month I feel really tired and down in the dumps so now I have started taking 2 tablets when I know it's my down week, Is it safe for me to do that. (I have asked doctor for something stronger with no joy) I am 56 in January.

Nongranny - Can you actually not notice at all when you have the menopause

Told by my local "Well Woman's Clinic" 70% of women have no symptoms at all. Delighted to tell you, I am one of them. Periods stopped at 49 - job done thank goodness!

Nongranny Sun 18-Oct-20 14:04:55

Can you actually not notice at all when you have the menopause?

I am 37 and for the last year, my periods have went from really heavy to nothing at all. I sweat really badly during the night and sometimes during the day too. Could this be the start of early menopause?

Since I went through the menopause my hair has become very thin, to the extent you can see the scalp through the hair. Would GOPO® Joint Health help with this problem?

Does the menopause cause symptoms similar to PMDD?

Courtney767 Thu 15-Oct-20 15:37:09

I have noticed since menopause that I have become way more sensitive to insect bites and now get severe swelling and itching. Is there any correlation?

Having gone through the menopause in my mid 40's I am still experiencing symptoms over 15 years later.

Can you recommend a good guide to the menopause. I feel let down by the lack of information available - what to do where to go - and find we need to do our own research before heading to the GP who seem to treat one symptom at a time and therefore don't connect it with the menopause.

I have seen an increase in anxiety symptoms for about a year now, could this be a symptom of me moving into the menopause? I am 46 and still taking the mini pill so periods scarce anyhow. I haven't noticed any other symptoms.

I’m nearly 66 and apart from the fact that my regular periods got gradually lighter in my fifties then stopped altogether ten years ago, I wouldn’t know I’d had the menopause. Having looked quickly through all the replies, it seems this is very unusual, and I do realise how lucky I’ve been.

Some things, such as thinner hair and the odd chin whisker, I just see as a consequence of getting older, like wrinkles. I broke a bone for the first time three years ago and it healed in no time, so it seems my bones are okay.

My question would be: has there been research as to why some of us don’t suffer the classic symptoms, and if so, what does it indicate?

abigailflo Thu 15-Oct-20 07:47:31

Noticed since my hysterectomy two years ago I have gained weight although my diet hasn’t changed is this a factor of menopause

What to do about the hot flushes, working in an office its often embrassing

joannec1234 Thu 15-Oct-20 06:43:56

I started on the menopause quite early at around 41 and the symptoms were horrendous, I started taking HRT at about 43 and I am still taking it now. It has really helped but I'm worried that when I stop the symptoms will return, my GP has told me to keep taking it until I'm 50 then I should stop, I'm nearly 48 now and I'm worried that everything will happen again when I'm 50

What are the first signs to look out for that menopause is approaching?

pengwen Wed 14-Oct-20 22:44:07

Go to sleep cold, then wake up not and sweaty -is it because of the menopause and what can I do to help.it?

baconbap Wed 14-Oct-20 21:42:18

What do you think of using natural progesterone cream for the menopause?

happymand Wed 14-Oct-20 21:12:23

I am 50 years old with Graves disease and Hyperthyroid - I have suddenly started having heavy periods, spotting in between and more frequent periods... is this the start of menopause?

zippedup Wed 14-Oct-20 20:56:05

what is the pre menopause??

grannybiker Wed 14-Oct-20 20:09:26

I was peri-menopausal with regular periods right up until I had chemotherapy at 51 and my periods suddenly stopped and never returned. I'm 56 now. Maybe a lot of my menopause symptoms were masked by the other, but I still get a few "Glows" each evening. No sweats, just feeling overheated. Do you think this is menopause or something else entirely?

tupelohoney Wed 14-Oct-20 19:49:30

After an early menopause and taking a combination HRT I was advised that I had taken it for long enough and it was stopped. However I am concerned about bone density and general lack of mojo. Would it be safe to resume and how do I get my GP to listen to my concerns?

jhocknull Wed 14-Oct-20 15:43:08

Why some nights do I wake up dripping wet with menopausal night sweats but other nights I am absolutely fine?

franky58 Wed 14-Oct-20 13:52:29

I have been having severe hot flushes and night sweats every 45 minutes for the last 14 years, since chemotherapy for breast cancer plunged me into menopause at the age of 47. What i want to know is will these flushes every abate. They have become more and more debilitating with age and I would love to have relief from them as they are severely interfering with my day to day life and my sleep quality.
