Ingredients55g (2oz) butter or margarine115g(4oz) caster sugar 2 tbsp golden syrup 170g (6oz) plain flour 1 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt 2 tbsp cocoa 1 egg 140g (5oz) milk or plain yoghurt Few drops of vanilla essence 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda |

Method1. Melt butter, sugar and syrup gently - I use the microwave.2. Sieve flour, salt, baking powder and cocoa. 3. Add the beaten egg and the melted stuff, then the milk, bicarb and vanilla mixed together. Don't overbeat. 4. Cook at 180C, no 4. 25-30 minutes. 5. Will make two smallish rounds,or a 8" square cake or a 'ring' - my favourite. 6. Ice when cool. |
