Ingredients115g (4oz) soft margarine115g (4oz) caster sugar 3 medium eggs 115g (4oz) drinking chocolate 70g (2.5oz) self-raising flour 1/2 tsp baking powder |
Handy HintTest to see if cooked by inserting a knitting needle into the cake, if cooked it will come out clean. I have been making this cake for 40 years and every time it comes out fantastic. It is easy to double up the mixture for an extra large cake, adjust the cooking time accordingly. It is very moist and delicious. |

Method1. Cream together the margarine and sugar and beat in the eggs one at a time.2. Sieve together flour and drinking chocolate and baking powder and fold into the creamed mixture. 3. Add a little hot water if the mixture will not drop off the spoon. 4. Put the mixture into a 7" lined cake tin and cook for 50/55 minutes in the middle of the oven at Gas 5 or 190 deg C or 180C in a fan oven. | |||||||||||||||||||
