Ingredients

16 tbsp of red split lentils (washed)
3 pints water (more for a less thick soup)
1 ham stock cube
1 packet smoked bacon
1 large carrot (grated)
1 large onion (chopped)
pepper (to season)

Handy Hint

-Add a pinch of curry power for some extra spice!

Method

1.Put the water, the packet of smoked bacon and ham stockcube in a saucepan and simmer for 40 minutes.
2. Remove the bacon and add the washed lentils, grated carrot and chopped onion.
3. Cook for a further 45 - 60 minutes until lentils are cooked.
4. Season to taste, serve and enjoy!
