Ingredients225g (8oz) self-raising flour1 packet dates (chopped) 55g (2oz) margarine 1 egg (beaten) 1 level tsp baking soda 55g (2oz) walnuts (chopped) 55g (2oz) sugar |

Method1. Put chopped dates, sugar and margarine into a bowl, and add 8 tbsp (1/4 pint) of boiling water. Allow to cool.2. Then sieve flour and baking soda together. Add this, along with the egg and walnuts to the ingredients and mix gently. 3. Put in loaf tin and bake for 45 minutes at 175C/350F. | |||||||||||||||||||
