Ingredients675g (1 1/2 lb) ground beef1 onion (chopped) 2 chopped carrots Handful of sweetcorn Handful of peas 3 big potatoes 1 tbsp butter 1/2 cup beef stock 2 tbsp pickle (eg Branston) Salt, pepper to taste |
Handy HintThe pickle gives it a great kick - you can add more or less to suit your tastes. |

Method1. Preheat the oven to 190C/375F/Gas 5.2. Heat the oil in a large pan. Add the onion and carrot and cook over a medium heat for 5 minutes until soft. Add the peas and sweetcorn. 3. Add the minced beef and cook for 3 minutes to brown. 4. Add beef stock and salt and pepper to taste. 5. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes. 6. Five minutes before it is ready, stir in the pickle. 7. Meanwhile, to make the topping, boil the potatoes in water until soft. Drain and mash with the butter. 8. Spoon the meat into an ovenproof dish and top with the mash and cook for 30 minutes until golden brown. |
