Ingredients

300g minced beef
½ small onion (chopped)
1 spoonful of chopped chives
1 clove garlic (chopped)
1 tbsp cornflour
½ beaten egg
½ tsp salt
1 dash of pepper
1 tbsp olive oil

For the sauce:

1 tin chopped tomatoes
1 small onion (diced)
1 clove garlic (chopped)
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp cornflour
Salt and pepper
A few shavings of parmesan cheese
1 packet fresh pasta

Method

1. Place the meatball ingredients in a food processor and turn onto pulsate until it forms into a meat mixture.
2. Divide the mixture into 20 equal portions. Roll each piece of meat mixture into a ball.
3. To make the sauce: Heat the olive oil in a pan. Sweat garlic and onion without browning. Add in chopped tomatoes. Bring to the boil. Simmer for 15 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Thicken with the cornflour blended with 1 tablespoon water.
4. Heat the olive oil in a frying pan. Fry the meat balls until they are slightly brown on the outside. Pour in the tomato sauce and simmer for 20 minutes till the meatballs are cooked.
5. Cook the pasta for 5 minutes in boiling water. Drain.
6. Place the pasta in a warm plate. Spoon the meatballs and the sauce on top of the spaghetti. Garnish with shavings of Parmesan, chopped chives and basil.
