Ingredients

Base:

2 bramley apples
75g sugar
1 tbsp water

Topping:

150g cornflakes
50g sugar
50g butter

Handy Hint

Use a polythene food bag and rolling pin to crush the cornflakes.

Method

1. Peel, core, quarter and slice the apples. Stew with the sugar and water until quite soft. Pour into a well-greased ovenproof dish.
2. Crush the cornflakes. Mix with the sugar and spoon this over the apples.
3. Put little dots of butter all over the surface. Bake for 20 minutes at 200C/Gas 6.
Serve hot or cold, with custard.
