Ingredients

12oz S.R.flour
pinch salt) or just use
8oz butter) salted butter
6oz sugar
1lb cooking apples (I use two large Bramleys) peeled, cored and chopped
a small shake of ground cloves
a large shake or two of ground cinnamon
3 eggs

Handy Hint

You can add about 4oz raisins if you like too.

Method

Heat oven to 180°C

Rub fat into flour. Then add sugar and spices.
Mix in the beaten eggs.

It's a relatively stiff dough.

Bake for about 40 mins or until a skewer comes out clean.

Dredge with caster sugar while still hot.

Oops! When to put the apples in is missing! Stir them in _before_ the eggs, though I expect the cake would still work if you stirred eggs and apples in t'other way round, or together!!
