Naked on the beach

I noticed the same thing in Crete recently. I do wear a bikini although I probably shouldn't. I just like to feel the sun on my skin and I find a bikini more comfortable. I wouldn't dream of taking the top off and I wear a cover-up of some sort as soon as I leave my sunbed. I quite admire the ladies who 'let it all hangout' though. Why should you feel self conscious just because you havn't got a perfect body.

I suppose the joy of being naked shouldn't just be confined to those who look good in the buff.
Not for me though.

The first holiday abroad we had was Gran Canaria and we somehow ended up on the nudist beach (this was back in the '80s) - we didn't know where to look but I managed to see some very interesting sights With a huge scar I've never even worn a bikini so definitely not for me!

We had a camping holiday in the Greek islands in the ?70s.
On Mykonos there was a nudist beach and I felt overdressed in my swimming costume. Eventually gave in for quick dip in the sea, but glad to get away.
As others have said, there were all sorts there including some same sex couples.
On other islands people had their passports taken by the police if they went topless or naked.

I have to say that on holiday in Cyprus this summer, many "mature" ladies were topless or wore quite skimpy bikinis.
Most had long since lost their figures, and because the summer tan had not yet "taken", they looked (on the whole), unbecoming.
On the other hand, there were a lot of very well tanned ladies who looked amazing.
I think a suntan hides a multitude of sins.

I remember years ago going topless on a beach abroad, thinking "well, its not as if anyone knows me". (Famous last words)
Fell asleep, and woke up to someone kneeling over me, saying "I thought is was you! You work in - place name - don't you?"

I went naked on a beach in Wales ! It was in the night though and we were dragnet fishing, I fancied a dip in the sea. ?

I remember going topless in France and Italy back in my youth, but I wouldn't contemplate it now, it's a one piece for me these days. I'd quite like one of those costumes Princess Margaret was famed for wearing, with a skirt, down to the knees preferably. I'm not bothered what other people wear or don't wear on the beach, although I did once fall asleep on a beach in France and woke up suddenly to find a pair of saggy buttocks belonging to a fairly elderly gentleman, in my direct line of vision It took me a nano second to realise I was no longer dreaming!

Some years ago I was in a place near Oslo, on Oslo Fjord. It was June. A few girls were sunning themselves, no clothes.
Then this bloke came down the jetty, also naked, strutting a bit.
He dived into the water. And surfaced almost immediately looking very uncomfortable. Even in June the Oslo Fjord is extremely cold, and the effect was quite apparent when he got out :-))

A good maxim for going naked on the beach is "just because you can, doesn't mean that you should".

The only plus of going braless for me is that at least it would pull some wrinkles out of my face.

I'm going to have to catch up with the nakedness.
I've never gone undressed on a beach or anywhere else.
The last time I wore a swimming costume I was thirteen years old and it was at my school pool.
I would wear my summer clothes on the beach.
Even a skirt makes me feel a bit exposed "underneath".

I think we are all too self-conscious and over aware of what are considered imperfections .. which in fact are quite normal! I have sunbathed topless and love to swim naked but no opportunities recently.
I do regret that I enjoy my food rather more than creates a healthy weight and that as a potentially 'petite' person I carried quite large babies but I am not ashamed of by saggy old body. It is me.

Years ago with my husband in the Carribean I commented on topless bathers, his reply " whatever they want but there really should be quality control" - there were quite a lot of older German women.

Yes Germans are very comfortable with nudity, not only at the beach but lakes, mixed spa’s, city parks, all over the place. Would not suit me but each to his or her own.

I have gone starkers in the distant past on beaches in Crete and Greece where any swimsuit was overdressing, and have to say I did enjoy skinny dipping. But I never wandered around naked. It was undress on the edge of the sea, in for a dip, and then sit on the edge of the briny until dry. I was never tempted to play beach volley ball as some did.

These days, having acquired rather too much surplus skin and cellulite, I wear short Lycra leggings and a baggy t shirt!

Forty years ago, when I had a figure, my first husband persuaded me to go naked on the beach in the South of France. Met a couple from my singing group also in the buff. I still feel embarrassed when I spot them in Tesco. At least I looked ok then. Now I’d look like a whale.

Do skinny dip in Crete but only when no one is around. Just done the Big North East Skinny Dip in aid of Mind. This was the North Sea at 6.30am. Very different!!!! Freezing but so exhilarating and 615 other dippers were with me.

Lying on my front sunbathing in mum's garden a few decades ago and with 3 children playing nearby, I heard one of them call out. I turned, sat and stood to see what was the matter. It was mum's milkman at the side gate, wanting to be paid.
He certainly didn't know where to look. I was only topless but, when I picked up my youngest, he, my son, decided to have a drink. I think that put the kibosh on the milkmans his collection round. What was worse was that his brother was mum's postie and he couldn't resist telling her that his brother was still recovering a week later.
