Ahh, I see. She appears to have been looking for people, with the appropriate qualifications, to provide "care in the community".

I come from a background in Mental Health Nursing, specialising in Dementia Care. I know how difficult it is to get visiting professionals to go into Care Homes. Thank you.

No idea hilda confused

DH is a domiciliary dentist who visits elderly and infirm patients in their own home and this 'care navigator' asked me if he 'supports' people in care settings. I said 'only my mum' grin but he could visit to examine and advise on their dental needs.

I am quite used to talking to virtual nurses on virtual wards but this one baffled me - I was on my way out to see my own 'person in a care setting' so didn't have time to investigate and I'll probably never hear from her again so it will have to remain a mystery grin

I imagine she was responsible for more 'joined up' provision for older people.

What is a Care Navigator kitty. Is it what I know as a Care Manager? Or something completely new.
Will I need one for my Dad, who I think, is ready for Residential Care.

What on earth is a "care navigator" and why would you want one?

I've just taken a call from one - she was perfectly nice but the term really made me grin
