...and you have to dress up as your favourite character from a book. Who will you be? I might be Mrs. Bennet from P&P. Lots of 'bosom hoiking' opportunities.

Haha juliette I'd be Scarlett O'Hara. Lots of wide swishing skirts, off-the-shoulder dresses and men falling at my feet. And I'd have the change to be feisty too, see!

Actually, I'd be Scout from To Kill a Mockingbird.

Grannyknot Sat 07-Mar-15 12:36:41

chance not change! I really don't have my typing fingers today.

loopylou Sat 07-Mar-15 12:37:27

Alice in Wonderland-and I have just found my long lost copy of The Annotated Alice.
Mind you, you'd be hard pushed to see anyone look less like her than me!
Perhaps I should be the White Rabbit, totally covered up!

annodomini Sat 07-Mar-15 12:47:42

My first feminist hero - Nancy Blackett, of Swallows and Amazons. Don't think I'd be very convincing though!

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 07-Mar-15 12:52:59

I would be Mr Bennett. I have a lot of sympathy for his dislike of "comings and goings".

Galen Sat 07-Mar-15 13:19:03

Venetia by Gergette Heyer

Anya Sat 07-Mar-15 13:37:24

The Mouse from The Gruffalo, he epitomises the triumph of brain over brawn.

hildajenniJ Sat 07-Mar-15 14:02:32

Tori, from the book of that name. Out into the Wild West with the wagon train!

Jane10 Sat 07-Mar-15 14:05:28

Mrs Tiggywinkle- my first feminist role model!

ninathenana Sat 07-Mar-15 14:07:47

Oh boy, that's got me thinking. I'll have to get back to you on that one. So many to choose from.

Deedaa Sat 07-Mar-15 21:06:12

I think I should have to be Lucia from the Mapp and Lucia books, although part of me would really like to be The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo grin

Teetime Sat 07-Mar-15 21:08:58

Forever Amber - my first racy novel.

merlotgran Sat 07-Mar-15 21:21:17

Dona St Columb from Frenchman's Creek. Who wouldn't want to live in a beautiful part of Cornwall and fall in love with a daring pirate?

Agus Sat 07-Mar-15 22:13:28

Jo March from Little Women. My first feminist role model.

soontobe Sat 07-Mar-15 22:33:16

I fancy being an animal of some kind. Peter Rabbit or Mrs Tiggy-Winkle.

janerowena Sat 07-Mar-15 22:42:30

I would be the story-teller from The Thousand and One Arabian Nights.

Katek Sat 07-Mar-15 23:37:50

Ariadne Oliver from Poirot....I could wear exotic clothes and write novels. I don't think I could be quite as rude though!

Lona Sun 08-Mar-15 10:57:33

I think I'd be Scarlett O'Hara too, as she got things done/got her own way, by sheer guts or guile.
Jo March would be a close second.

I would like to dress as Granny from Gangsta Granny, all in black with the balaclava and mobility scooter.
GD loves this story and it set her off wondering whether her Grandma had jewels hidden in a tin. We went through the house and found an old box in the bottom of a wardrobe, lo and behold it was full of necklaces and bracelets. She thought it was the story come true and I was surprised at the forgotten jewellery find smile

Lona Sun 08-Mar-15 13:48:25

I've just realised that I don't need to dress up at all. The giveaway book I received last week "I Love My Granny", has a granny that looks exactly like me according to my dgs, and he's right, even down to the pink specs!
grin

rosequartz Sun 08-Mar-15 17:17:38

I'll dress as Precious Ramwotse then I can wear really colourful dresses, a turban (to cover my messy hair) and I can eat whatever I like because I will be Traditionally Built
(and I will always solve all the mysteries!)

rosequartz Sun 08-Mar-15 17:18:37

But first I must learn to spell my name:

Precious Ramotswe blush

jinglbellsfrocks Sun 08-Mar-15 18:22:37

you will have to drink that horrible "tea".

apricot Sun 08-Mar-15 18:24:26

I'd be Laura Ingalls (before she became Wilder) or Arrietty from The Borrowers. Both feisty girls.
There don't seem to be many book heroines of seventy.
