First meet-up is coming soon for those of us near Cheltenham, admirably sorted by our lovely Local organiser. But how to recognise each other? What should we carry? Or wear? or is there a GN look that will do the business?Answers on a postcard please. Well actually, it would be easier if you just post here grin

Icyalittle when we had a first meet up a few weeks ago the kind person who organised it brought a recognisable item and sat it on the table so it could be seen by all entering the venue it worked perfectly and we had a nice meet up to be repeated next month.. good luck hope you all have fun

Won't they be in a rocking chair knitting and sporting a perm and shawl!grin

Soutra Wed 29-Oct-14 21:55:08

Not to mention a beige skirt with an elastcated waist, comfort shoes, and their glassrs on a chain round their neckgrin Alternatively, motor bike leathers, thigh boots, gin glass in hand!!

Icyalittle Wed 29-Oct-14 23:42:35

That's it then, I am off to Ebay for some thigh boots. grin I don't do beige. So that just leaves the others.....

I know that some meetups agreed that all would have a scarf tied to their handbag, but I found myself asking a lady if she was there for the GN meetup and she wasn't thlblush Seems it is a common look around here!!

What about a secret GN password?? thlwink

kittylester Thu 30-Oct-14 09:19:25

I'll wear my biker gear next time Teetime grin

I like the item on the table idea. The last local meet in this area (couldn't make it) it was suggested we tie a scarf to our handbags.

glammanana Thu 30-Oct-14 15:33:15

Just imagining what the item could be ?? How difficult is it to transport a "Posh Candelabra" in your handbag grin

kittylester Thu 30-Oct-14 18:42:31

An ice bucket? wine

tanith Thu 30-Oct-14 18:55:28

I remember our 'item' on the table was a brightly coloured fluffy backpack I think it might of been Spongebobsquarepants or something similar it worked very well ..

Containing a bottle of Champagne, of course...thlgrin

(sigh...the perils of crossed posts! thlwink)

Glasses on a chain? hmm
Just bought a chain as I have had to buy new specs having lost my last pair.

A secret password is a good idea - how about 'Cari's Friend'?

JulieGransnet (GNHQ) Thu 30-Oct-14 21:05:41

Just a suggestion, but how about you all wear pink/blue/green and carry a book/glass of champagne/cake? Narrows it down a little.

Have a very lovely meet up smile

Elegran Thu 30-Oct-14 21:49:27

Wear something purple.

Galen Thu 30-Oct-14 22:00:18

The first GN meet was in Birmingham and we wore suffragette colours, purple, green and white!

lefthanded Thu 30-Oct-14 22:28:23

Not sure how the one-or-two grandads on here would cope with the "scarf tied to handbag" scenario :-)

glassortwo Thu 30-Oct-14 23:10:44

lefthanded A tie on their manbag grin

Icyalittle Thu 30-Oct-14 23:12:57

Elegran on the grounds that when I am old etc?

Icyalittle Thu 30-Oct-14 23:14:18

Julie, sounds colourful! And a handful.

Elegran Fri 31-Oct-14 10:55:10

Mostly suffragette colours, but yes, a spot of "when I am old" too.

granjura Fri 31-Oct-14 19:39:49

ahaha have a great time- at least when we met Icyalitle, we were the only English speaking around and in such a tiny place- couldn't miss each other ;) When are you next over?
