serve a Gin and Tonic in my view that is. Ice in first, then gin , then splash of tonic, lemon if required, give bottle of tonic to customer to put in rest as needed. Why can't barman get this right I have been complaining about it for years? Of course you may have a different view!!! [wink}

I'd heard that GILT was the correct way -gin, ice, lemon, then tonic (to the strength preferred). Lovely!

As long as all those four components are in the same glass and in my hand I am not bothered as to the order.

Quite true Annsixty! Cheers. grin

In goes in any old order in our house but the tonic is always last.

merlotgran Sat 30-Apr-16 16:32:27

Because if you put the ice in last it might make the drink overflow and that would be a criminal waste grin

Never enough tonic in mine to allow that to happen,but I get your point.

Or even two?grin
I have to say, I don't like ice in my G&T or lemon, it has to be a slice of lime.The gin goes in first, then a fair bit of tonic, then the lime.Mmmmmmn.?????

When I make one it is generally the ice, the slice, then the gin and finally the tonic. Delicious! smile wine

Have to say that I wouldn't be able to tell what order it went in if I was handed one - nor would I worry! grin

Yucky stuff envy
It's H's tipple when on the spirits he says ice, gin, tonic, slice.

Hate the stuff, can`t even stand the smell of it! Sorry.

Don't worry, you two, I'll have yours. Shame to waste it. wink

Although we have gin at home, it really is a holiday tipple for me. DH doesn't like it. I also used to think I disliked it when I was young, but then when pregnant, it was one of my cravings, along with menthol cigarettes. ( At that time I didn't drink or smoke, and still don't smoke) . Nowadays I do enjoy the occasional G&T, however it comes smile
