Pumpkin carving competition

For those who are feeling creative, we've got a Halloween competition to sink your teeth into... <ahem>

Showcase your/your grandchild/grandchildren's carved pumpkins on this thread, and any carving tips you may have, by 31 October for a chance of winning a bundle of books of your choosing (fiction, non-fiction, younger or older kids).

There's no need to rush out to the corner shop to buy a pumpkin - unless you want to - you're more than welcome to post up pictures from previous years (although if you've entered in previous years, you can't post the same photo). Whether it's a work of artistic brilliance <cough> or a simple Jack O' Lantern, we'd love to see it.

Winners will be picked by a panel and we'll announce the winner on this thread shortly after the competition has closed.

Usual T&Cs apply.

we decided to decorate instead of carve this year so my 2.5 year old could really get involved. It was a lot of fun.

Our girls are here for the weekend, they designed and carved their own pumpkins, cat by Rosie, 10, witch by Flow, 13. Hope the photo isn't upside down like the preview!

Orla's (aged 5) Pumpkin with a little help from daddy!

We used a Pumpkin kit which we bought for 99p from Dobbies which was greatly reduced after last years Halloween. Keep your eyes peeled for them.

Say hello to Mr Skinnylegs :-)

Inspired by Jane Hissey's pumpkin story, we opted for a friendly teddy bear.
Top tip- cut from the bottom, much safer. We use battery operated lights or even flashing battery operated fairy lights.
