Help!

Don’t know if the iron was too hot or what, but ended up with some fabric melting and sticking onto the iron soleplate.

Have tried salt, bicarbonate and white vinegar paste, oh and paracetamol tablets rubbed on, but still there, not quite so bad though.

Bought an iron remover stick years ago which you rubbed on a hot iron, worked well but couldn’t find the same one again.

Any recommendations or hints please?

Cross with myself, iron not very old and I always try and be careful with fabrics.

Have you an old cotton towel if so heat the iron very hot then try rubbing it on the towel a few times. I did this with mine it worked.

The 'big river company' do a Vilene iron cleaner stick and others similar.

I have a couple and find they work fine - until they break off from the holder!

Amazon sells hot iron cleaner. I'm a frequent flyer in this category and can testify to it's effectiveness. The product is in a toothpaste- like tube.
You will not look back. I buy in bulk.

Used one loads of times does not damage the steel plate of an iron

I suppose it would if it was a "non stick" sort though

New iron?

Had the same problem with my iron. Solved by buying a new one. Mind you my iron was 20+ years old so it was about time I had a new one.
