as a Leicester adoptee for 34 years- I am very excited at the prostpect of winning by a massive margin. A fabulous under-dog story. Not a football fan really, we were great Tigers (rugby) supporters- and my home game is ice-hockey of course-
but we will be cheering the Foxes all the way with our Leicester friends.

And I can't wait to see Gary presenting 'Match of the day' in his underpants, lol.
I remember the days when he used to help at his father's fruit and veg stall on Leicester market- he was so shy then. Happy days. (we lived there from 1975 to 2009). In the 70s we used to meet a lot of LCFC- as one of our neighbours was a key player.

granjura Sat 07-May-16 17:56:47

Not sure if you are jesting or not!? Where have you been last week??

Wish I'd been there- I must say- what a day. But I wouldn't have wanted to drive through Leicester today - yiiikes. Andrea Bocelli did come to sing for the Foxes and Raineri- amazing.

GandTea Sat 07-May-16 17:47:01

Oh, it's to do with football is it ?

granjura Sat 07-May-16 17:08:15

Here is a FB message from an ex-student- who is a little bit excited about the events, lol:

Gutted I'm not at the King Power today to see my team lift the Trophy and be crowned Premier League Champions...(still feels like a dream saying that)... But I will be watching from our home in Essex, no doubt with a tear or two.! Just wanted to say a big congratulations to all my friends and ex colleagues at the club I know just what this means to everyone. All the hard work, long hours, organisation & dedication behind the scenes goes unseen to the majority but the staff are most definitely the heart and soul of the club!! For making the most unbelievable Dream come true, putting little Leicester on the world map & making every single Leicester City fan burst with pride THANK YOU to our amazing players, coaching staff, owners & manager!!! ‪#‎CHAMPIONS‬ ?⚽️?? forever in my heart !

Just driven through Leicester -- is something going on ??

granjura Tue 03-May-16 21:37:07

Right next door in a new bigger stadium, first called 'Walkers' and now 'King Power'.

Izabella Tue 03-May-16 17:53:32

....... And here I am expecting a thread about foxes and hens!!!!!! I lived in Leicester for over 20 years actually and never knew they were called The Foxes. Was just Filbert Street then. Do they still play there?

granjura Tue 03-May-16 17:10:18

Probably too late - but ... if there is anyone in Leicestershire who can get me a copy of the Mercury - we will be over next week and would just love it- thanks.

Treebee Tue 03-May-16 16:47:42

DH is thrilled and is keeping today's newspapers as a souvenir. He also wishes he could share the triumph with his Dad who died a year ago.
Brilliant photo on the front of the Leicester Mercury today of our Gary with just a packet of Walkers crisps strategically placed!

Thingmajig Tue 03-May-16 16:13:19

Absolutely brilliant, and I'm not a football fan ... husband is a staunch supporter of Liverpool but even he has been rooting for Leicester! First time, and probably last time that he's cheered a Chelsea goal.
Well done that team! party

granjura Tue 03-May-16 15:49:18

Best bit will be to watch Gary present Match of the Day in his underpants, lol!
Better than eating a hat!

He used to be so shy as a kid- I often bought fruit and veg from him at his dad's market stall at Leicester Market- and later he lived next door to one of DD2's best friends. One of those men who has become much sexier and better looking with age ... (grrr)
