Have just watched Rip of Britain where Angela Rippon was wearing leather trousers. She is 70, is it just me who thinks that's a no,no ?
Apologies to anyone of a similar age who proudly wears theirs. Just MHO.

I used to work for a female boss who was a WILT (woman in leather trousers). The younger staff members would poke fun at her, because, she would, er, buy them second hand off eBay and then tell the whole office. Ew.

Mrs pompa has my sympathy! grin

granjura Mon 20-Oct-14 21:57:34

hihihi thanks Ana- so yes, I've got one, in black- very useful ;)

The only person who should wear leather trousers if Iggy Pop

I think leather trousers look ridiculous at any age on anyone other than bikers [who have to wear them for the protective value.]It's not a good look.Nothing to do with age.

BTW, the cold shower didn't work, I can still see Suzi Quatro in those leather trousers. grin

Yes.

granjura Mon 20-Oct-14 18:53:11

Am I really the only one who has not got a clue about those waterfall cardigans grin

suzied Mon 20-Oct-14 18:18:58

I wouldn't mind trying them but my husband calls them " colostomy bags" , so somewhat off putting. ( this was in tribute to an unpleasant colleague of his who wore them - not sure of the connection!)

rockgran you made me sniggergrin thanks just the tonic I needed after that Monday feeling at work

rockgran Mon 20-Oct-14 17:05:19

Would they go well with a waterfall cardigan! grin

granjura Mon 20-Oct-14 16:52:14

hildajennij - same here, lol. Personally, I'd say live and let live- doesn't bother me and I quietly envy their figure.

gangy5 Mon 20-Oct-14 16:33:43

A definite no!! Mutton dressed as lamb comes to mind!

hildajenniJ Mon 20-Oct-14 15:38:01

I always wanted to try leather trousers but never had the courage. Now I haven't got the shape.grin

petallus Mon 20-Oct-14 14:44:30

And to think that this very morning I returned some stretchy slim legged jeans to M & S because I thought they were too clingy!

Liz46 Mon 20-Oct-14 13:50:31

IMO Angela Rippon always looks extremely smart but this morning I found her leather trousers a bit of a shock and didn't like them. To be fair, if she could see me now, she wouldn't be impressed by my clothes either!

Didn't bikergran say she was taking some time away from GN after her husband died? I hope she is ok, and comes back soon.

Agus Mon 20-Oct-14 13:06:24

I had a brown leather pair years ago. Lovely soft leather and very comfy.

Not something I would wear now though. OK in my twenties but not in my sixties.

glammanana Mon 20-Oct-14 12:56:17

Elegran I had same thoughts yesterday haven't seen her about for a while certainly miss her humour,I think leather trousers on youngsters look fine and as a safety measure on motorbikes they are a must but nothing worse than seeing saggy bottoms when they are well used.hmm

Teetime Mon 20-Oct-14 12:14:19

I think they must be very hot and sweaty. Yuk- they are a bit of taste holiday.

Ana Mon 20-Oct-14 11:56:44

Cilla Black often wears them too.

ninathenana Mon 20-Oct-14 11:53:14

They are a necessity for bikers male and female (chicks! sad ) of any age. Different to wearing them for 'style'. I admire her for knowing her own mind, but even if I were her size they wouldn't be my thing.

annodomini Mon 20-Oct-14 11:48:47

Thanks for the reminder, Elegran. I have just pm'd her and the message was sent, so she hasn't left us.
