Now that we've discussed the comfy bra, what about the knickers?

Mine always pinch around my middle. And I hate 'granny pants'. Want something pretty. Any suggestions?

Anne58 Wed 30-Sept-15 16:50:03

Do they have to go right up to your middle?

granjura Wed 30-Sept-15 16:55:26

well I am chubby and there is nothing worse than knickers that cut your tummy visibly half way up- much better to have Sloggy type 'granny' pants that do not show! imho.

My main priority (apart from comfort) is trying to avoid looking like I've got 4 buttocks!

Nelliemoser Wed 30-Sept-15 17:11:29

I wear M&S midis. (There is a good M&S outlet store near me where I can by last seasons designs at good cheap prices.)
I don't like the minis that dig into your hips, or the waist high ones the dig into your navel. Or the very lacy ones which seem scratchy and leave their imprint on your bum.

This is sounding like a Goldilocks story. grin

I've got an ancient pair from M&S that is stretchy lace that miraculously seems to stay up but not cut into my middle. Haven't found pair like it since.
To be fair phoenix these days I'm not sure where my middle ends and my bottom bits begin grin. I suppose I mean my bottom middle if that makes sense (below my belly button but only just).

I always seem to be sitting on an uncomfortable seam, or hem, or something, whenever I sit on wooden outdoor furniture. Especially pub garden tables.

jinglbellsfrocks Wed 30-Sept-15 17:17:04

I mean the seats of the tables. I do not sit on the tables.

I wore Sloggis for years but last year I found some M&S 'high rise, smoothline' knickers and love them. They are very fine, sort of shiny material but still hold in the bum and the waist and feel quite 'sexy' to wear - unlike the dear old Slogs. I would highly recommend them; trouble is M&S keep changing the design, so if you find some to suit - grab the lot while you can!

Envious Wed 30-Sept-15 17:31:27

Yes Nelliemoser we need some that fit jusssst right! grin

TerriBull Wed 30-Sept-15 17:38:52

Oh knickers are hardly a problem, it's not like butts have to be lifted and separated and you can't see your own behind so who cares! Black Marks and Spencer's for me, there is no other colour but black for all underwear as far as I'm concerned. Basic knickers that sit on the hips, neither super large or those hideous cheese cutter, very passe, vulgar looking thong things that some women still wear. When ever I see anyone in them in the changing room at my gym, it always makes me think how uncomfortable they must be. Oh well no accounting for taste!

NotTooOld Wed 30-Sept-15 17:48:54

M and S midis for me, too, but the pretty ones with lace round the legs, usually '2 for 3'. I've got a drawerful, some are patterned but mostly black or white.

Anne58 Wed 30-Sept-15 17:52:13

I have told before about my thong incidents blush

However, on a recent visit to M&S outlet to find something to go with a nail varnish I had just bought confused apart from 2 jumpers, I seemed to have added to my basket 2 pairs of their "Brazilian" cut knickers, which I rather like!

rosequartz Wed 30-Sept-15 18:14:19

Black and white are fine but it is only the strange 'nude' colour that doesn't show through light clothing!

Those M&S shiny ones are good for cooler weather, but they're too hot when it's warmer. They do some cotton 'smoothline ones' as well.

annodomini Wed 30-Sept-15 19:12:43

phoenix, do your new knickers go well with your nail varnish?

rosesarered Wed 30-Sept-15 19:21:18

Only nude or black lacy midis for me, which match the bras I wear.

rosesarered Wed 30-Sept-15 19:21:52

Never found pants/knickers to be uncomfortable.

granjura Wed 30-Sept-15 19:21:58

always black for me too- but not for nailvarnish ;)

rosequartz Wed 30-Sept-15 20:11:28

It's a bit Gothic for my taste too granjura (the nail varnish, not the knickers) grin

loopylou Wed 30-Sept-15 20:47:26

I wear 'granny' knickers, VPL because I hate knickers that roll themselves down or need constant hitching up or ride up my bum (don't get me going on cheese wire throngs!)
M&S no longer do the lovely lace 'shorts', the last ones I bought slithered down, dragging my tights down with them hmm
I actually went to the nearest loo, chucked them in the bin and spent the next 6 hours knickerless!

loopylou Wed 30-Sept-15 20:48:48

'Throngs'! Blinkin' autocorrect + not previewing it (again)
blush

granjura Wed 30-Sept-15 20:56:19

well, I could never wear thongs ;) - and so glad as they are a major source of urinary tract infections- as the 'string' is a perfect conductor from your a- hole to the front! hey ho!

Elrel Wed 30-Sept-15 22:04:45

Sloggis for years but I might try Marmight's M&S ones.
There's an interesting firm on the South Coast called 'Who Made Your Pants?' producing attractive comfortable pants on a small scale. They source their materials from ends of fabric lines from luxury manufacturers and provide ethical employment for local women.

Coolgran65 Wed 30-Sept-15 22:16:17

M & S on the waist, laser cut leg so no vpl. Some cotton midi just below the waist. Cost about £2 each in the clearance corner of the M & S outlet store. Lots of black, lots of nude (horrid colour) for summer, And a couple of white.

Charleygirl Wed 30-Sept-15 22:20:17

Totally agree with *rosesarered. I like Sainsburys- very soft, do not slither down, wash well and are cheap.
