Who watched it last night? I have it saved on catch up, so will start this thread and then put my fingers in my ears so as not to hear any spoilers...

Radio Times just arrived; three page spread on Bates.......................he won't say if he'll be released, but as they feature him I reckon he's here for a few more weeks!

Grannyeggs Tue 16-Oct-12 08:44:38

I'm loving it, very good death scene, poor Sybil, the nicest of the sisters. What about Bates, did he do it after all?

gracesmum Tue 16-Oct-12 08:36:19

"nothing" duh!

gracesmum Tue 16-Oct-12 08:36:02

I wonder if in those days there was nithing they could do?

Notsogrand Mon 15-Oct-12 20:54:40

I've just watched it on SkyPlus....I more or less knew what to expect from an 'OMG Poor Lady Sybil' post on Facebook.....which annoyed me, but that would be a whole other thread grin
It was all very well acted apart from the 2 medics who stood like lemons at the end of the bed and made no move towards a clearly distressed and dying patient. Not very convoncing.

I must also confess that I shed a tear or two - I didn't know that was going to happen.

Ella46 Mon 15-Oct-12 19:37:38

Oh merlot I thought that too smile It was very good last night, I had a weep but it was an enjoyable weep!

merlotgran Mon 15-Oct-12 18:22:22

And she'd better make sure her breakfast tray isn't skew whiff in future. I thought her teapot was going to slide off like the grand piano on the Titanic. shock

gracesmum Mon 15-Oct-12 17:04:52

Poor Sybil We all know about pre-eclampsia (I was induced with first baby because of it) but I had never given any thought to eclampsia. I was quite shocked, but as Tim Pigott-Smith never gets to play goodies, I knew something was going to happen as soon as he appeared on the scene. So poor old Lord G, I don't think his wife will forgive him.

Ana Mon 15-Oct-12 16:18:20

I used to find stale biscuits behind DD's chest of drawers.....

Marelli Mon 15-Oct-12 16:09:30

Looked like an old bit of toast - I used to find them in DS's bed when he was he was about 10! grin

Ana Mon 15-Oct-12 15:41:04

grin Whatever it was was wrapped in what looked like a bit of old sacking...

POGS Mon 15-Oct-12 15:14:53

confused

Mamie Mon 15-Oct-12 15:09:03

Was it a blade? It looked like an old cigar to me!

POGS Mon 15-Oct-12 15:04:01

Mamie

Isn't it strange to say I enjoyed it too, when someone died hmm. As you say poor Sybil and good acting.

When the prisoner he shares a cell with tried to plant a blade in his mattress and the search found nothing, didn't he take the blade from between the brickwork and put it back there? Or am I wrong and it's his wifes letters.

No Sherlocks are we? smile

Mamie Mon 15-Oct-12 14:15:28

Oh dear, poor Sybil. Actually a better episode last night, I thought with some good acting, especially Maggie Smith. What will happen now?
BTW what was it in Bates's mattress?

absentgrana Thu 27-Sep-12 13:09:41

annodomini You are not alone. I watched the first episode of the first series and found it ridiculous, full of anachronisms and inaccuracies and a poor production, so I haven't watched any of it since.

MaggieP Thu 27-Sep-12 13:01:20

Enjoying it so far but fear it may coincide with Homeland which returns shortly!
Then there's always one to record, and there are so many new Autumn progs beginning to appear, we have the problem which to watch next and when!......

harrigran Thu 27-Sep-12 12:20:32

Yes, still watching, but don't think this series is as good. Disappointed with Shirley McClaines character.

mapweb Thu 27-Sep-12 11:32:25

Something I saw in the Telegraph Birthdays Sept 27th. Michael Douglas and his wife Catherine Zita Jones have the same birthday with a 25 year gap....it made me think of Lady Edith in DA who has not fared too well up to now. I think by her marriage to Sir Anthony Strallan she could, in the end, fare better than her two sisters....How many of you are still watching DA?

Greatnan Wed 19-Sep-12 19:30:57

Thanks, granny23 - and I was watching the film yesterday!

Yummygran Wed 19-Sep-12 14:39:36

A friend of mine is a make-up artist on the series, she had a wonderful time despite having to get up at the crack of dawn six and often seven days a week! What a great way to earn a living!

Hunt Tue 18-Sep-12 23:19:19

It's not real history but I love it!

Anagram Tue 18-Sep-12 22:46:56

Of course!
