Grandpa's Great Escape

Our pick for March sees a small boy and his beloved grandpa brave the skies in a high octane, comedic adventure. Grandpa's Great Escape is the newest book by number one bestseller, David Walliams.

Jack's Grandpa wears his slippers to the supermarket, serves up Spam à la Custard for dinner and often doesn't remember Jack's name. But he can still take to the skies in a speeding Spitfire and save the day. Grandpa's Great Escape is an exquisite portrait of the bond between grandson and grandpa, taking its readers on an incredible journey through London in a spectacular flight of the imagination.

"A pleasure to read. A beguilingly funny, original and thought-provoking tale…hilarious." Amanda Craig, The Times

David Walliams is one of the most influential and popular writers for children, selling over 7.5 million books in the UK alone. His recent fiction title, Awful Auntie, published in September 2014, went straight to No.1 in the children's book chart and remained there for seven weeks before returning to the top for the coveted Christmas number one slot. It also won both the National Book Awards' Children's Book of the Year and Audiobook of the Year.

David also takes the lead role in the narration of the audiobook version of Grandpa's Great Escape, joined by EastEnders actor, Nitin Ganatra, and the much admired Sir Michael Gambon – most famous for his role as Albus Dumbledore in five of the Harry Potter films – who features as the adventurous Grandpa.

Grandpa's Great Escape is published by HarperCollins and is available online and from all good booksellers.
