Is it only me that really cannot see anything physically attractive about this man?

I believe that he has an "army" of fans who refer to themselves as "Cumberbitches"

Sorry, just don't get it.

Going back to Benedict, I will watch anything with him in it - though didn't care for him much in Parade's End. He looks spookily like his mother Wanda Ventham, doesn't he?

Jeremy Brett did make a good Maxim de Winter but no one did contempt half so well as Alan Badel in The Count of Monte Christo.

Ella46 Thu 01-Nov-12 09:46:16

Ohh YES absent I remember that, it was very flush making! grin

GrannyHaggis Thu 01-Nov-12 17:57:26

BC does nothing for me! There's something strange about him!

Deedaa Thu 01-Nov-12 18:00:23

Oh absent now your talking! Remember that one well and he was a wonderful Mr.Darcy around the same time. He was also in the Narold Pinter play The Lover with Vivien Merchant I believe and of course he was a wonderfully sinister Count Fosco in A Woman in White.

Was surprised to find he was married to Anna Massey. Perhaps I thought he'd be married to a glamorous type.

Ana Thu 01-Nov-12 19:06:08

She was a good actress - I'll never forget her in 'Peeping Tom'...

I rather resent the comparison between Benedict and Matt Smith (Dr. Who) Benedict is beautiful and Matt Smith is repulsive in my eyes although I know a lot of women go crazy over him. Gabriel Byrne isn't bad looking but has no oomph.

crimson Thu 01-Nov-12 19:42:12

Oh but he's oirish, and he's got that oirishness that I'm a sucker for blush.

crimson Thu 01-Nov-12 19:42:55

Gabriel, that is...Jeremy Irons is of the same ilk.

benedictalina Thu 01-Nov-12 19:44:20

No interest in Ola Jordan's backside. The only female bottom I'm interested in is my own. Making sure it stays looking good ;)

Ana Thu 01-Nov-12 19:45:06

BC is not beautiful, by any stretch of the imagination! shock

benedictalina Thu 01-Nov-12 20:02:21

Well as they say "beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

Ariadne Thu 01-Nov-12 20:05:08

Who is Jeremy Brett?

Ana Thu 01-Nov-12 20:07:45

You're right of course, benedictalina grin

Ariadne, surely you watched the Sherlock Holmes series with Jeremy Brett as Holmes? I always thought he looked very aristocratic - and a bit louche!

Ella46 Thu 01-Nov-12 20:15:22

Ana I don't think he was acting wink

Anne58 Thu 01-Nov-12 20:57:53

Well, what have I started!

hummingbird Thu 01-Nov-12 22:36:54

Brad Pitt has definitely gone off the boil, but in Thelma and Louise he was simply beautiful! BC doesn't really do it for me!

annodomini Thu 01-Nov-12 23:08:20

As Jeremy Brett was an Etonian, he probably wasn't acting, Ella. And Benedict is an old Harrovian.

Ana Thu 01-Nov-12 23:13:47

Etonian doesn't equate to aristocratic, surely? grin

annodomini Thu 01-Nov-12 23:26:35

Not if some of our politicians have anything to do with it! But I do think these 'top' public schools confer a certain arrogance of bearing.

benedictalina Thu 01-Nov-12 23:50:36

What some call arrogance others would call class. I would say JB had class and BC HAS it. Not sure what politicians have to do with it.

If I was doing the dinner party thing, I would have to include Robbie Coltrane. and NOT for his looks! (But personality wise, he does have a certain je ne sais quois" ! (sp)

crimson Fri 02-Nov-12 00:14:41

In his 'Cracker' days wink....
