Hepzibah was the wife of Hezekia in the bible. Now why do I know that??

My parents bought their house from a lady called Hepzebah, I was surprised when I saw the house deeds. I had never come across the name before in the north east.

Lord Frederick Windsor (son of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent) and his wife Sophie have just had a baby and called her Maud Elizabeth Daphne Marina.
I haven't heard of any Maud's for years!

When I was about four or five I announced that I wanted to be called Princess Fairy Silver Moonlight in future and demanded that my parents addressed me as such. My father answered, "Of course I shall dear, if I can remember it."

I hope you have managed to feel more comfortable about allowing your son to name his son. Financial concerns in families, well they are probably the biggest can of worms on the planet . When we pay for anything in the shops, it's a simple exchange of goods and money , with family their are always invisible strings attached and they can bind all of you into the most uncomfortable positions from where your vision will almost certainly be obscured , in my experience . Let us know ( not the name , just how you are ) ?

KatyK one of my favourite novels is jane and Prudence by Barbara Pym. Written in the 50's, Jane is a rather disorganised country vicar's wife, dreamy and oblivious to her appearance or anyone else's, but Prudence is a smart working woman, very glamorous and given to love affairs

If you go round the graveyards in the Black Country, you find lots of Elis enochs, Hezekiahs, Ezekiels, even Hepesebah. My one grandmother was Miriam, I think it's a lovely named, my other one (who I didn't like) was Emily!

Jane - yes hint taken. There is nothing wrong with the name Prudence, it's just that if you knew my DD she is definitely not a Prudence ! And I consider myself a bit of an authority on the Beatles and I didn't remember that the song was theirs! Obviously not that much of an authority then.

In 1947, when I was just six years old, I asked my mother could I change my name to Sharen. She replied, that's so common. And yet, to me, it was quite beautiful and at that time there was just one girl in the village with the name. Then I wanted to be, Belinda/Heidi/Annabelle. All too much for my dear Mama. She told me that she almost decided to name me Lesley.

Jesse is very Old Testament though, I thought that might have suited Presbyterian Scots. I rather like it for a boy but it would cause teasing.
