I had this happen once KatyK I can't remember which store it was, but I know I was amazed to get my money.

I had a 'senior moment' in Tescos last week. I usually pay by card but as I had a bit of cash in my purse, I decided to use that. My bill came to £26 and I gave the lad on the till 2 £20 notes. He gave me my club card back along with vouchers for this and vouchers for that. It wasn't until I got home that I realised I was concentrating so hard on the vouchers that I didn't notice he hadn't given me my change, which was £14. I thought I will never prove this but Tescos were great. They checked the tills the next day and gave me my money back with no quibble. I kept thinking of the old days when they used to say 'please check your change as mistakes cannot be rectified later.'

I guess they are not obliged to run a lost property service. It would be good customer service policy though if they kept small items like that and were helpful to their customers.

Sainsburys are the ones being unreasonable. I would say a minimum of 7days would be more reasonable.

I don't know if this procedure is legal. It's certainly not good PR. I would contact head office.

When I left my debit card in Sainsbury's and went to collect it from the information desk, they had a drawer full of different cards. I doubt if all of those had been left in just 24 hours.

I've been fobbed off with guff from Sainsbury stores in the past but when I ring their national customer services line then I get the correct information. If it matters to you give them a ring.
