I feel disappointed

Yes Deeda when I asked last week nothing was arranged. They are all.moving house this week in a sort of house swap so I think the birthday has taken a back seat.

If they hadn't mentioned their plans for this evening previously perhaps they didn't consider it a big deal and weren't expecting you to be upset about it. They may have just seen it as a night out with a few friends rather than a big celebration.

Thanks everybody . We are out with the parents next weekend so maybe they thought we would not want to go particularly as they are all big drinkers
and it would have been an expensive evening. I will try not to dwell on it as we have been friends for years.

So sorry that you are feeling left out, and, as they are such close family friends, I can quite see why you are disappointed. Try not to take it to heart. Maybe she sees you as being more friends of her parents, however much she likes you. The only option is to rise above it!

I am not sure how close the relationship has to be, to be included. To feel sad is understandable, but that too often way madness lies.You could always have booked a table for yourselves and waved cheerily, even offered them a drink?

So would I. You're not being unreasonable at all in feeling as you do, seasider - I can't help wondering at the parents' obvious insensitivity!

I think I would feel just as you do sea, rather disappointed and a bit sad !
