Comfort food is best. What's your favourite?

After a hard(ie force 6 or very choppy or wet sea crossing in our sail powered boat!) sphaggetti hoops on toast!

Vegasmags,Rice pudding with skin on does it for me too,with raisins added if preferred,also really naughty but very,very good is eating condensed milk straight from the tin mmmm at the thought of it.

Mashed potato (well seasoned) with a hole made in the middle filled with butter and cheese grated over the top, then grilled to melt. Accompanied by a small bottle of beer. (No wonder I'm 'chunky'!)

Hot buttered toast and a lovely cup of tea. Just thinking of it gives me a warm feeling

I was introduced to the joy of a fish finger butty by a friend's daughter recently. I didn't add ketchup, because I'm not a fan, but did put salt on. I now understand why 'young people' eat this delicious bit of comfort food.

I love food, but don't eat lots of it.My DH says I am a "nibbler".My favourite evening nibbles are walnuts and cranberries, which I happily munch together.Great companions for TV watching.

I wonder if your DH eats it out of the tin like I do (saves on washing up - can't see the point of scooping it from one receptacle to another when it goes down the hatch so quickly)

Stop it, all of you! I have just put a rice pudding in the oven after reading this thread. It's chock full of nutmeg, some vanilla, drop of cream, knobs of butter floating on top. Should be dark brown and crispy on top by lunchtime.

Ooh, chip butties - forgot them. On thick white Warburtons bread, slathered in butter, plenty of salt.

When I am not feeling well, the only thing I want is Heinz Tomato soup and a sliced white bread cheese sandwich.

Chip butties - a thing of dreams - GF bread isn't the same. They should be in pappy white bread, thickly spread with butter and covered in salt, vinegar and a dash of brown sauce!!

Fish pie mix was on offer today at Sainsbury's so that's tea sorted!!

Boiled egg with soldiers, bangers and mash, toast and marmite, glass of milk.

Like Gally I'm a fan of Ambrosia Creamed Rice -just as it comes or hot with nutmeg and sultanas, or cold with for preference tinned apricots. It is the one thing I can always eat even when proper poorly. If DH has lost his appetite he can always be tempted by beans on toast.

When I was 10 or 11 I won a family sized tin of peaches and a tin of condensed milk on a tombola stall. In spite of my mother's sensible advice I ate the whole lot, all by myself, in place of Sunday lunch and had the runs for days. I dare not buy condensed milk as no one else likes it and as it does not 'keep' I am 'forced' to consume the whole tin - wonderful with bananas or just sucked off a dipped finger

Chocolate. That's all I need

Bread and butter pudding with lashings of creamy custard.

A cup of coffee and half a bar of fruit and nut chocolate- heaven.

A savoury dish would be 2 boiled eggs sliced with chips- yummee.
